(1st person POV)
"Today's the day, my first last day at Derry Highschool," I thought to myself "Can't wait until the day is over and I'm free from everyone there or mostly Greta"
I'm not exactly the most popular person at school but many people know me because of the rumors about me. They think that I've kissed and slept with my best friend, that I steal things, that I got my tattoo illegally, and that I smoke.
Okay, maybe the smoking part is true... And maybe the tattoo part but when we used to live in New York City my dad allowed me to get one last year from one of his friends before we moved.
I sighed and finally sat up from my bed and thoughts, I got quickly dressed and went to eat breakfast.
I looked around the kitchen and quickly grabbed the lunch that I made the day before and quickly ate a bagel.I put the lunch in my bag and rushed to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I stared at myself in the mirror and decided to do eyeliner and blush.
I ran upstairs and grabbed my Walkman, I started listening and humming to New kids on the block as I rode my bike to school.
...
"Oh oh oh, she's my cover girl..." I quietly whispered the lyrics as I put my bike next to the other bikes and locked it.
I walked inside, shoving my Walkman into my bag.I went up to my locker and grabbed all the books I needed for today. As I closed the locker, I got jumpscared by my school friend.
"Hey, Y/n-"
"Gosh, you scared the shit out of me, Audrey!" We both laughed
"Sorry, but I wanted to ask if I can copy the homework in social studies?"I sighed and pulled out my homework "Fine, but you owe me a garbage pail kids card"
"Are you kidding? Do you know how rare those will be? plus they don't sell em' no more!" She had her eyes wide as plates as I laughed "I'm just joking, but you do owe me gum at least"She sighed in relief and continued to copy the homework "Deal, how about after summer?"
"Yeah sure, I don't mind," I replied, staring at her writing, it was pretty."Done. thanks, I'll see you at lunch!" She ran off to her first class, as I calmly walked to math.
I don't hate math but I also don't like it. The only reason I don't skip it as a whole is that I want my grades to be good so I can easily get things from my dad, like money or gifts... Oh and also because there's someone in class who I always talk to.
His name is Kirk and he's kind of a nerdy kid. He's also my tutor, in exchange for whatever he needs at the moment. Like one time he wanted to try cigarettes, or... that one time he asked me to pick up and get as many bottle caps as I can, why? I'm still not sure. Oh, and that one time he needed help asking out a girl.
She rejected him, unfortunately, but I made sure to comfort him and also make it so he wouldn't blame me for the rejection. The girl he asked out was in our math class as well so it was awkward.
"Hey, Kirk" I patted his shoulder when I walked in, putting my bag next to my table and finally sitting down.
"Hey Y/n, uhh, I'm not gonna have to tutor you during summer, right?" He asked nervously"Of course not!" I laughed, "Unless you need more stuff, then I will only help you get them in exchange for money."
"Oh, alright" He fixed his glasses which were a bit broken at the left bottom corner. Greta had pushed him down some stairs, his glasses had fallen whilst he fell and broke.
What did I do? I helped him up and punched Greta in the face. I was a bit scared of her I guess, but not scared to the point where I wouldn't defend my friend. It ended up in a fight and detention but it was worth it.
