The next day I went to school was a hoodie over my head. Outfit that covered my whole body.

Everyone gave me dirty looks the whole day. Probably thought somebody beat the hell out of me.

"Are you okay?" Liz asked me. "You disappeared last night."

"Yeah, I'm fine. Fell down the street." I said.

"How?"

"With heels."

"Oh."

"Yeah. I'll see you later, I gotta go find Peter."

"Okay."

I walked outside to where I told Peter to meet me. "Hey." I said to him.

"Hi. Jesus, are you okay?"

"Yeah. I'm on painkillers, so I'm fine."

"Amelia, what were you thinking?"

"I told you, I can protect myself."

"How? You're fragile. Vulnerable."

"Look, I didn't tell you because I barely knew what was going on."

"Tell me what?"

"I kind of have powers that are controlled by my emotions."

"What?"

"It happened to me twice. When I got angry. My dad's the only one who knows, but I guess he told my mom."

"Powers? Like Wanda?"

"Something like that."

"Oh, wow, okay..." he looked away from me.

I took a deep breath. "Why did you chose popularity over me? We were gonna go out and you just bailed in front if my eyes."

"Amelia, I... you don't know what it's like. Being there but nobody noticing. Like you're air to everyone. A punch bag."

"But I thought I was what muttered." I chocked.

"You are." He put his hands on my cheeks. "You mean the world to me. I'm sorry. I made a mistake. But I love you. More than anything."

I pulled him into a kiss. "I love you too." I said.

"So... we're cool?"

"As long as you're not doing anything stupid again."

"Fine."

"Okay?"

"Okay. Okay."

"Good. Call me later?"

"Yeah." I kissed him quickly and went back inside.

Later that night Peter called me. "Hey!" He said, happily.

"Why are you so happy?" i asked with a grin.

"We're going to DC tomorrow."

"Are we?"

"Yes."

I groaned. "With the debate team?"

"Yes."

"Please tell me it has nothing to do with those guys who almost killed me."

"So then I'd he lying."

"Peter!" i yelled.

"Don't tell your dad, okay? Just show up tomorrow and we'll go on the bus."

"Ugh, fine."

"I love you." He said, softly.

"I love you too."

"Night." He hung up.

I walked downstairs. "I'm going to DC tomorrow with the debate team." I said to my parents.

"I thought you're not going." Mom said.

"Yeah, Liz convinced me."

"Is Peter going?" Dad asked.

"Yeah. Why?"

"Nothing. Just... be careful."

"Please do not give me the talk." i groaned.

"I'm not giving you the talk. I'm giving you the 'don't break your body more than you already have' talk. Alright?"

"Fine."

"You get in trouble, you call me. I'm serious, Amy."

"Okay, dad."
