Alpha Ashton McClain

"Looks like the battle has begin."

Watching out of one of the small openings created into this lame excuse for an hideout, I saw my mate's pack dashing towards my pack. I had given the order to attack her pack on grounds of a take over scheme, led by Lady.

My pack can hold hers off until the final preparations are in order. I must admit, I never expected them to find us. I was sure we had to go to them. I wonder how they found out.

"Shouldn't you be out there?" came the feminine voice of my witch.

Wait. My witch? I have a mate. She's nothing to me. Nothing but a tool to get me my mate.

Turning around, my gaze wandered over her body. She was dressed in pants and a common shirt, so unlike her usual seductive clothing. Nevertheless, she was still quite beautiful.

I wonder why she isn't with anyone.

"No. My place is here. My pack will do their job."

"You seem so sure, Alpha." She approached my side, looking out an opening right beside mine.

"I know my pack. They do what I say. When I say it."

"What about your mate?"

"She's hot," I chuckled. "I've told those brainless dogs of yours never to hurt her, so we should be good."

"My wolves will do their part."

"And what part is that?"

Spinning around, I come face to face with Maximum. The look on his face was one that irritated me the most. It was like he was judging me. Judging me. His alpha. Like I was the problem.

"You should be with the others." I turned back to gazing out my opening.

"You're working with rogues, Ashton."

I could never understand Maximum fully. He kid around, yet he gets all different when it comes to duty. What was his problem anyway? I'm the leader. He should respect everything I do without complaining nor asking me ridiculous questions.

"You said you would never work with rogues. That they were the lowest scrum of the Earth's floor. That you would have them all killed if you could. That--"

"Things change, Beta. I never knew they could be mindless puppets." Which was true. I never thought those low lives would listen and follow a witch. Much less, follow her blindly. Perhaps they were under whatever spell she casted or even they were being saved, I couldn't guessed their reason for coming together like a pack.

"You can't do this."

"I can and have. I will have my mate." It wouldn't have been a problem if she would have gave herself to me." Instead of the pathetic excuse of fur she had a mutt with.

"She rejected you."

"No!" Spinning around on my feet, I fixed my anger on him. "My mate is just being stubborn. Can't you see, she's utterly in love with me, but her pack is what's holding her back. Once I kill them off, I can have her to myself."

"You're insane."

I wasn't crazy. I knew what I wanted. It was simple as that. I wasn't some weakling who gave up after a stupid rejection. No, I was a leader. A ruler who always got what he wanted.

"No. Everyone else is. This is my world."

"You can't do this."

"Oh?"

In a matter of a few steps, I had him pinned to the ground. A hand around his neck. There was no way he could stop me. He knew better. Doing something as stupid as getting in my way was a sure way to get killed. However, I couldn't dismissed the thought that my so-called, best friend was after my position.

It was normal. My dad always told me that my underlings would try to riot against me, and the sure way to prevent that was to always show dominance.

"Who's going to stop me? Surely, not you."

I watched him try to twist his head. "O'course not, Alpha." He managed to say between struggling to breathe.

The thing with Maximum was that he never averted his eyes nor did he completely submitted to me. I get that he's my best friend and all, but he should have learned his place a long time ago. My father made sure of that.

"Good because I wouldn't want to have to kill my best friend for doing something stupid."

"It seems you were wrong, Alpha." The witch said. I could hear the annoyance in her voice.

I looked over my shoulder at her.

"You pack is attacking my wolves. I didn't expect them to actually attack my wolves."

Releasing Maximum from my grip, I rose to my feet. He immediately started to cough and catch his breath. Making my back to my opening, I peered out. I saw my pack finding the rogues. I suppose I couldn't blame them, yet that thought did nothing to quench the anger boiling in me. They wasn't following my order. I'll just have to punish them severely once this was over.

"I'm going out. Make sure things run smoothly while I'm out." The witch turn on her heels.

"Why are you doing this? Man, your pack. What about us?"

"My pack doesn't matter to me at the moment. I will have my mate no matter what."

"She's close." One of the witch's followers spoke.

I've been watching my mate. It's been several minutes and I've watched her took down one of the stronger wolves. She really was a strong female.

One of the witch's minors approached me. I turned to him

"Then set it off."

Alpha Lady Luna

I could smell my son. He's really in there. I must get to him.

Running with all my might, I could hear myself panting. As the fighting continued, my thoughts were sorely focused on getting into that building and getting to my kid.

As I was closing in, a strange werewolf was blocking my way. Stopping I told the werewolf to move or else I would break his hand, but he laughed and ran toward me. Getting into position, I ready myself for a fight.

After a few minutes in, I noticed that my opponent seem stronger than the ones I've faced earlier.

Why?

Nevertheless, I fought on. I couldn't lose this fight. After getting a good hold on his neck and twisting, I was able to bring down the powerful werewolf.

Haven came to my side. Sharing a knowing look, we continued forward.
