GWEN WOKE UP to the frustrating sound of her alarm, she would've normally accepted her fate and surrendered to her it, however today, she was feeling especially tired. Why you ask? Because she's a part time vigilante in New York City, not to mention she's a high schooler who's trying to maintain top grades.
A few months ago, the teen was on a school trip, strangely, she was misfortunate enough to get bitten by a radioactive spider, leading her to develop spider-like abilities. Wall-climbing, enhanced abilities, spidey sense and her personal favourite, web slinging. Web slinging took her a while to master but she got the hang of it eventually, letting webs shoot from her wrists, she didn't exactly understand how her body produced the webs but that didn't dismantle her fascination.
Last night was rough for Gwen, she'd been patrolling as the arachnid hero 'Ghost-Spider' for hours. Sadly, she'd encountered a late night robbery. It would've been easier if there weren't any hostages, but she prevailed nonetheless.
And that leads us to Gwen current state. Asleep. Asleep when she should've been leaving for school. It wasn't until her dad, Captain George Stacy, walked into her room to find her with her head stuffed amongst the pillows that she finally was aware of the time.
"Gwen! What are you still doing here? You're supposed to be at school." George scolded, hoping his words would change the fact that his daughter was already greatly behind schedule.
"Oh crap." She mumbled before jumping out of bed.
"Hurry up, I'm leaving soon." The police captain warned.
Gwen quickly put on some baggy jeans, a white tank top and a checkered shirt to finish off the rushed look. Once she was dressed, she ran to the bathroom, multitasking between brushing her teeth and combing a brush through her hair. The arachnid hero once again checked the time, and confirmed, she was definitely going to be late. In her hurry, she stuffed the necessities into her bag and ran towards the kitchen to get a light snack for the road.
George Stacy sat patiently in his car, his daughter ran and sat beside him, trying to catch her breath. "Care to tell me why you're late?" He asked her.
"Slept through my alarm." Gwen truthfully answered.
"You never sleep through alarms, are you sure everything's ok?" He pressed.
"I'm fine, trust me, it won't happen again." She leaned back and looked out of the window. Her dad turned up the radio and both the Stacy's tuned in for different reasons.
"Last night, Ghost-Spider made another appearance, saving hostages from jewel thieves and stopping millions of dollars worth of artefacts from being stolen." The presenter of the station explained. "Who is this Ghost-Spider and what's her relation to Spider-Man?" They continued.
