After she'd finished her song, Gwen looked amongst the crowd to find for the boy it was aimed for, however, when she searched, she found that he was nowhere to be seen. Next, she looks towards Liz, she was unhappy and Gwen jumped to the conclusion that Peter had walked away. Was her song choice really that bad? No, she saw how happy he looked when she began playing, something else was in the midst here, and she needed to find out.
"Ned." She asked the boy. "Where the hell did Peter go?"
"He's right over therrr..." Ned trailed off, trying to find Peter's location. "Maybe he's at the bathroom?"
"Did he say anything before he left? Liz looks upset, did he ditch her?" She continued to interrogate.
"No, Peter wouldn't do that." He lied, but Gwen could tell that he was panicking.
"Look." Gwen lowered her voice, she didn't have time for his shenanigans and knew that he was avoiding some of her questions, so she gripped his shirt discreetly and used the blackmail she'd acquired. "I've recently gotten really good at interrogating people, so either you tell me exactly where Peter is, or I'll tell everyone that you took the bomb up the Washington monument. Understand?" She threatened, turning her voice quieter and deeper.
"You wouldn't do that, right?" He worried.
"Try me." She glared.
"Fine, he ran past Mrs Warrens classroom and told Liz that he had to go." The boy finally revealed.
"Why did he have to go?" Gwen whispered to herself.
"You probably shouldn't look for him, he'll come back, he always does." Ned reassured, but that wasn't the answer Gwen was looking for. Her spidey sense told her something was wrong and Peter Parker was once again tied in the middle, she needed to tell him her identity, it was only fair.
"I'm going, don't follow me." She warned and released his shirt before dodging her classmates terrible dancing and finally running through the corridors. Thank god she wore her trainers. She had to jump over balloons while also keeping in mind where Peter might have gone or which turns he could have taken. Though, she managed to gather he was trying to get out the building, so a fire escape was her destination.
Suddenly, her spidey sense was tingling more than ever and loud crashes were heard from outside, she needed to hurry. That's when she saw the weapons that she'd been trying to trace, the weapons she'd warned Tony Stark about, clearly nothing had changed, other than the fact that they were now being used to throw a bus that looks as though it contained Spider-Man. Great.
"Why did they send you here?" Spider-Man asked in his downgraded costume.
"Guess you'll never know." The man returned and prepared his glove to deliver the final blow. However, his triumph didn't last long and he soon realised a web was shot at his device, bringing his hand back from Peter.
On the other line of the web, stood a panting Gwen, she wasn't prepared to run that fast then immediately get into a fight, especially in her homecoming dress. But alas, it had to be done. In a swift motion, she pulled the web towards her, dragging the criminal with it and collided her fist to his face. He was remarkably weak without his weapon, which made Gwen's job so much easier.
"Gwen?!" Spider-Man exclaimed once he'd realised the situation.
"Sorry I'm late, but you didn't let me finish my song." She smirked and dusted off her dress. "Anyways, cats outa the bag, let's have this conversation later, right now, I need to know what's going on." She ordered and sensed another presence behind her. Instinctively, she clenched her fist but stopped the punch when she saw Ned.
"Wow, Spider-Man, what are you doing here?" He tried to lie.
"Explanations later." Gwen repeated and Peter nodded in agreement.
"The guy in the wings is Liz's dad." Spider-Man briefly spoke.
"What!?" Both Ned and Gwen shared confusion.
"I gotta tell Mr Stark." He panicked and turned to Ned. "Call Happy Hogan, he's Mr Starks head of security. And get a computer and track my phone for me." He instructed.
"Peter." Gwen alerted before he took off. "I'll try and disable the network he's hiding behind, maybe I can try and track down the origin of these weapons."
"You're not coming with me?" He asked her with nervousness.
"No, I need to make sure they don't call for backup. If these guys ambush you like they did on the ferry, you're done for." She explained. "My suits inside, I'll call you." And with that, she ran back into the school building searching for her locker. If anything, her job was far more dangerous than Peters, she had to fight against a large group of people with similar weapons to the Vulture, it scared her slightly.
However, time was short, so she quickly changed into her suit and hid her dress back in her locker.
"Ashla, shits about to go down." The hero told the AI, who didn't necessarily know what she meant.
"Would you like me to install potty protocol?"
"Potty protocol?" Gwen questioned, but quickly realised her mistake. "Nonono I'm okay Ashla." She declined.
After making it back outside, Ghost-Spider found the enemy she'd previously punched, and it just so happened that he was beginning to wake up.
As said, Gwen had gotten a lot better at interrogating people lately.
