AFTER GETTING SCOLDED for her late arrival last night, it was a new day, and for once, Gwen felt a strong sense of purpose. It had been a while since she stopped a serious crime and bringing down the weapons dealers was something she was looking forwards to. However, George Stacy made it difficult for the blonde to concentrate on her goals. His late call out into the city left him tired and frustrated, leaving Gwen in a similar mood on her journey to school.

"You know, I was starting to think those spider people weren't as bad as the news made them out to be. But after the stunt they pulled last night..." The chief expressed his irritation. It was true that both Ghost-Spider and Spider-Man had saved the day, but George would rather believe that it was their fault for waking him up, he needed someone to blame.

Gwen only hummed at his words, she didn't have the energy to argue with him at this hour, even if there was a chance her efforts wouldn't be put to waste again. "Can you walk from here?" George asked as he parked the car next to the crime scene.

"Yeah." Gwen answered after she saw her physics partner and his friend. "Good luck dad." She smiled and exchanged goodbyes. Finally, Ghost-Spider was free from criticism, she needed a break from her dads excessive hatred towards her secret hobby. Of course, she knew he was tired and trying his best, but so was she.

She walked up to the two boys. They looked as though they were in a serious conversation until Peter began laughing.

"Hi Gwen." Peter initiated as she drew closer.

"Hey." She replied. "Mind if I walk with you guys, my dads kinda busy." She asked, pointing towards the carnage.

"Is he looking into what happened last night?" Peter wondered.

"And does he have anything on Spider-Man?" Ned quickly followed up. Gwen didn't speak to Ned often, sure, they shared classes and were on the Academic Decathlon, but there wasn't many opportunities for them to converse.

"He's looking into it, but he's convinced that it's all because of the spider duo." The blonde answered. "Also, are you really quitting nationals?" She changed the subject.

"Yeah, Mr Starks been keeping me really busy." Gwen couldn't argue with that. Granted, she wasn't exactly working for Stark, the blonde still understood the value of time and plans.

"Hey Gwen?" Ned began once silence took over. "What's your opinion on Spider-Man?" He asked. At first, Gwen began to wonder why he was obsessed with the web-slinger, but Ned clearly wasn't Spider-Man, she had nothing to worry about. Besides, by the tone of his voice, spidey sounded like a middle schooler.

"I think he's pretty cool. But I've gotta admit that Ghost-Spider is my personal favourite." She gloated, going unnoticed by the boys.

"I heard they worked together last night." Ned claimed, nudging Peter slightly, the boy only laughed awkwardly.

"Well, I'll see ya around. Bye." The girl stated before changing course towards her friends, the group were already waiting for her arrival outside the school doors.

"Dude, did she just willingly talk to us?" Ned questioned, as if he'd been daydreaming the whole journey.

"Yeah, we sit next to each other in physics." Peter answered. "Why?"

"She's popular, and she's friends with Liz." He wiggled his eyebrows mockingly.

"Do you think she talks about me to her?" Peter asked.

"Probably not." Ned tried to be realistic before changing the subject. "Can you spit venom?"

"No."

In addition to Ned's endless questions, Peter also had to deal with the embarrassment of students hearing his conversations. Every time someone turned around, he felt his heart sink. Luckily, gym class came with more privacy and opportunities to see Liz Allan.

"Hi, I'm Captain America. Whether you're in a classroom or on the battlefield, fitness can be the difference between success or failure. Today, my good friend, your gym teacher, will be conducting the Captain America Fitness Challenge." Steve Rodger's saluted from the small Tv in the gymnasium. Gwen couldn't help but feel the second hand embarrassment, what was worse was that she'd actually met him.

"Thank you, Captain. Pretty sure he's a war criminal, but I have to show these videos. It's required by the state." Coach Wilson gathered the attention of the students. "Let's do it." He blew his whistle.

Gwen and Gloria partnered up, missing the rest of their friend group, who were playing kiss, marry, kill, on the bleachers. The blonde couldn't complain, she'd rather be doing sit-ups than playing and awkward game about people who she'd fought in Germany, besides, with her enhanced abilities, the exercise was easy. It was overdoing it that she was worried about.

"So, are you going to Liz's party tonight?" Glory asked the blonde with pleading eyes.

"I might make an appearance." Gwen replied, not having the motivation to form another excuse.

"Keep it up Stacy." Coach Wilson said as he passed the girl. Both her and Gloria shared a questioning look with one another.

"Why do Liz and Betty get to sit on the bleachers all lesson?" Gwen scowled.

"We were invited, but you said I'd rather do 1000 sit-ups." Gloria mocked. "Just to be clear, when it's my turn, we're sitting on the bench." Both the girls began laughing, but someone cut their moment short.

"Peter knows Spider-Man!" Ned said loudly, gathering attention from many different people, including Flash.

"Uh, no I don't." Peter stood up defensively. "No. I- - I mean - -"

"And Ghost-Spider. They're friends." Ned backed up, countering the point his friend was trying to make. At this point, Gwen was beyond confused, she'd never spoken to Peter as Ghost-Spider before.

"Yeah, like coach Wilson and Captain America are friends, heh." Flash joked.

"I've met them, yeah. A couple of times. But it's..... through the Stark internship." He mustered up and excuse, confusing Gwen more and more. "Yeah, well I'm not really supposed to talk about it."

"Yeah, well that's awesome. Maybe you should invite him to Liz's party, right?" Flash turned to the popular girl.

"Yeah, I'm having people over tonight. You're more than welcome to come." She encouraged.

"You're having a party?" Parker asked.

"What's going on?" Gwen muttered to Gloria, who was just as confused as her. They'd both been listening to the events unfold but neither could tell what was true.

"You should totally invite your personal friends." Flash teased.

"It's okay. I know Peter's way too busy for parties anyway, so...." Liz added, Gwen had to admit, that was low, and a little manipulative.

The bell was an indication that it was time for Gwen to prepare for the near future, would it be absurd for her to actually consider making an appearance as Ghost-Spider? Peter was her friend, but she could be risking her secret identity. Gloria was the first to notice that Gwen was still continuing the sit-ups exercise, to say she was concerned was an understatement. The keyboardist knew Gwen was stressed about the internship, but taking a few nights off wouldn't hurt.

"Um, Gwen?" She notified the blonde, who instantly stopped the exercise.

"Oh, I didn't even realise." She looked around to see people leaving the gym.

"Cmon." Gloria offered her hand. "We've got to prepare for Liz's party."
