I don't know what is up with me cause I keep hurting Adam in some or the other way. But this time there was a real reason. The night before everyone was doing to come to our house, I had gone to the grocery store where I met Claire, Adam's ex or should I say his current fiancee. She told me that she's getting married to him soon and that his dad made everything final. I thought he loved me but I guess this has been done without his consent. But I don't want to interfere in his family matters. Let him have a good life even if it is not with me. I don't want him to hurt his dad's feelings.
"Hey, honey," Dad said as he came outside to the backyard. I was there sitting on a chair.
"Hey, dad. What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be sleeping?" I asked him.
"Yeah. But I'm not able to." He said.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"I'm worried about you. Are you okay?" He asked.
"I'm fine dad. I am," I lied.
"Then, why did you say that you don't love Adam?" He asked me. For a second I just froze.
"Well, I...I...just..." I started stuttering. Words weren't coming out.
"Come on. What's wrong? What happened? Are you scared of something? Tony and I are not fighting anymore. You know you can be with him." He tried to tell me.
"No, dad. He's getting married soon. Let him be happy," I said.
"With whom? He'll be happy with you!" He said.
"No, dad! He'll try to be happy with Claire. His dad will also be happy," I said.
"Anna this is nonsense! Why are you sacrificing him for a silly reason?" He scolded me. "You're not the Anna I know. You're the strong one! You're the one who faces all the obstacles bravely," He said so I responded to him immediately.
"Well, maybe I'm not that Anna anymore," I said.
"Look, it's your choice but again you can still cancel your divorce." He said.
"Mr. Brown had called me a while back and said that the court hearing is the day after tomorrow," I replied gulping in my sadness.
"What if Adam wants to be with you?" he asked me.
"Then he'll have to leave me. Whether he likes it or not." I replied.
"I only wanted you to be happy but if this is what you want, then I'm fine with it." He said and hugged me.
"Thanks, Dad," I said and hugged him too. It's not the best decision but it'll work.
"Hey, An. Can we talk?" Adam said. He was standing at some distance from us.
"Sure," I said.
"I'm gonna go, Anna. Good night," Dad said and got up to go.
"Good night dad," I said and he went inside.
"So, what did you wanna talk about?" I asked as Adam sat down next to me.

"Dad, what do you mean you talked to Claire?!?" I shouted at him.
"I convinced her to marry you again," He said in a sad tone.
"Why would you...?" I was saying when he talked.
"I'm sorry son. I did that before today's events happened," He said.
