TW: Minor blood
~3rd POV~
Grian jolted awake from his spot amongst the pillows in a cold sweat. His heart felt like it was going to tear away from his chest. What he had heard was real. Far, far to real.
Slowly the avian pulled himself out of the mound and carefully onto his wobbly legs, using his large wings as a leverage point to balance himself. Carefully he stumbled as best he could out of the study into the small hallway outside it.
He never really got to explore Pearl's house, but I guess there's a first for everything? As he thoughtlessly wondered the halls of the building, careful not to make a sound, he stopped. His eyes locked with something within one of the rooms.
A mirror... his reflection stared back at him, the horrible cracks in his face and the way his eyes glowed... just like back then. The soft magenta glow of his own eyes sent a pang of pain through his head, as memories of a much worse time flooded over him.
"Get up." A voice echoed through the large room, countless shuffles of feathers and wings colliding as the over cramped room awakened, were heard throughout the room..
"I said get up." The voice hissed once again, growing quickly impatient on how long it took them all to get up.
Swiftly the entire hallway outside the room was filled to the brim with 'recruits'. No one wanted to be here, but no one would ever say it aloud... the last man who did didn't come back.
"As you all know you are absolutely inferior to us! No matter our age or rank we will always be your superior hear me?" A female voice commanded out across the crowd.
"Yes m'am!"
"Good."
His feathers puffed up at the thought of the academy... though that was still the best of it... they were ruthless creatures with no remorse.
You are not one of them. He reminded himself as he turned away from the sinister reflection.
•TW Start•
"Get up." A masculine voice growled.
"This is pathetic! You're meant to be the first of your kind! A great kind!" They spat as they kicked a small male on the ground in the stomach.
"Pathetic."
Slowly the boy rose from the ground, his body shaky and his nose and mouth overflowing with blood.
"That's it!" The man laughed as the small male finally got back to his feet and into a fighting stance once again.
"Terrible form." They sighed as they out stretched their hand towards the boy, flinging him backwards into the obsidian walls.
Blood flooded from his mouth, as his body twitched and ached, his instincts now telling him to rise but his body refusing.
"What a waste of time." The male grumbled as he simply walked out of the training area allowing 2 geared Watchers to take the boy.
"Pathetic."
•TW End•
"You aren't one of them!" Grian screamed as he crumbled to the floor, the memories now becoming overwhelming. Everything they had done finally coming back to him, all the pain they had caused.
"Grian!" A distant voice cried as footsteps thumped across the hard wood flooring towards the panicked male.
Voices continued to speak but all was turned silent by a loud ring that filled his ears, he was a Watcher wasn't he? He was just as bad as them wasn't he?
The image of his eyes in the mirror flashed back into his mind as all his thoughts quickly overlapped, creating dark and scattered remnants of what once was.
"I am a monster aren't I?"
