Devin-
I hurried up and started up my car. I sped to Mansfield and pulled up to my mother's home. I saw an unfamiliar car in the driveway and that automatically raised red flags. I hurried and pulled into the driveway and jumped out of my car. I opened the door with my key and stepped into the foyer.

"Ma!!" I yelled.

"Boy stop all that yelling, come here, I'm in the kitchen"

I cautiously stepped into the kitchen and I saw a man facing away from me and towards my momma. I scrunched up my face.

"Just wait a minute baby." my momma said sensing my confusion and hostility.
I nodded my head.

"Turn around Herald."

I know she didn't say Herald...
I watched as my father - excuse me, sperm donor spun around in the bar stool.

"Hi so-" I cut him off.

"Don't finish that sentence..." my blood was boiling.

"Now just wait a damn min-" Herald cut my momma off.

"No, let him say what he needs to say, Ashley."

She gave me this warming look, as if I needed to watch what I say. But I'm not a child anymore.

"You have NO PLACE to call me your son. You left me before I could even walk. I'm her son."
I pointed to my mother.

"She raised me! I raised me! You ain't do sh*t for me. I'm 19 years old! I got a damn son! And you calling me your son? You can miss me with that bullsh*t. As far as I'm concerned yo ass don't even exist." I spit venomously.

I looked at my mom and saw her tearing up. But I could literally feel my body heat up. I hugged my mother and kissed her on the cheek.

"I'm sorry Ma, I can't do this... I can't be here."
With that I walked out before I did something that I regretted.
I need to get home to my girl and my son.

"So she just sprung him on you like that, no warning at all?" Reign asked trying to clarify what I had told her.

"None baby." I said with my head on her stomach and she played in my hair.

"You're not mad at her are you baby?"

"Kinda, I wish she would have given me a warning." I say.

"I'm sure she thought that was the right thing to do. We all know had she told you, you would have refused to go." Reign told me honestly.
And she was right. She could read right through me.
Now I got the same story as most of the n*ggas from the hood. But I think it effects each of us a little differently.
But my son... I'll be damned if he had the same story. Reign will not end up like my mother raising a bad ass little boy alone. I will stand by my little family, well we won't be little for long But anyway.. I will stand by them. Reign and I could fight till hell freezes over. Her ass ain't going no damn where and neither am I. I need them as much as they need me. This is what a man does.
