Violet's POV:
The sun beams through my windows above my bed. I turn over in my bed as I hear my fan running from across the room. I rub my eyes, knowing I have to get up soon. I grab my phone to check the time.
6:45am.
Shit.
I shoot up out of bed. I run to my door and open it, turning left into the bathroom to quickly wash my face, brush my teeth, and brush my hair. When I'm done I go back to my room and rummage through my dresser looking for an outfit for school. I find lavender lulu lemon shorts and then a grey loose t shirt. I nod as I quickly change into it. I sit down at my vanity and turn on the lights. I apply primer, concealer, a skin tone shade of eyeshadow, black winged liner, mascara, light pink blush, and a nude lip gloss. I leave my hair down and get up, grabbing my backpack and phone and wallet. I close my door behind me and run downstairs.
"Good Morning Violet!" My mom cheerfully shouts as she sits on the couch, typing on her MacBook.
"Why didn't you wake me up?" I ask, frantically going into the kitchen to fill my water bottle. She looks up at the clock on the wall. "I'm sorry, I've been up for a while trying to finish up some work. I promised my client I'd have her photos edited and done today," She says. "I can take you to school, don't worry," She says.
"Why can't I just drive already?" I ask, rolling my eyes. I grab a box of goldfish from the pantry and pour some into a ziplock bag. My mom stands up and turns to me. "You've never mentioned wanting to drive, Violet. We can get you into drivers ed if you really want that," She says.
"I hate being the baby of the friend group," I groan. My mom grabs her keys off the key rack by the garage door. "Don't we all," She retorts.
"Savannah, I don't have time for your attitude," I say, smirking. My mom pops her hip with her hand on it. "You're around your dad too much," She says. I giggle.
My dad.
My life hasn't exactly been normal. For most of my childhood, I grew up referring to Jace as my dad. Around age four, my mom told me my biological dad passed away when I was two, and that Jace is really only my stepdad because they married. I didn't care though, he meant everything to me. He still does. He really is my dad. But when I started high school a year ago, my mom finally felt comfortable enough to explain every single detail behind my biological dads life when I was a baby. How he wasn't in my life, I was scared of him, he attempted to kidnap me, then he basically wanted to kill Jace over me, but ended up killing himself in a car accident because he was a drunk. I'm pretty happy with that outcome, who knows where I'd be if he didn't die and was still trying to be in my life against my moms wishes. Besides, Jace is really the best dad ever.
When I was two, after my biological dad's death, we moved to Poway. We struggled. My parents both went back to school to further their careers. They were, in my opinion, dumb and decided to get married in the midst of schooling, making finances worse. But worked their ways out of it. My dad has been a paramedic since I was three, my mom opened her own photo studio when I was four and is a successful photographer in the city of Poway. Pretty well known. Actually, a lot of students at my school go to her for their senior pictures. But shortly after she opened her studio, she had my twin siblings, Janessa and Finn. They're half siblings to me.
We've lived in our house for ten years now. It's a beautiful home, super long driveway, large backyard, and a huge pool and hot tub in the front. It's pretty private with gates, bushes, and trees hiding it from the main road. I'm so lucky to live here.
Due to my fathers past, my parents specifically chose this home in case of anything happening. We stay on the down low as much as possible, it's hard with my moms business booming and everyone knowing her and her skills and wanting her as their photographer. But we haven't had any issues, yet.
