Anna's POV.

I get in my car that's parked in the school parking lot. I see Alexia and her group of friends walking down the sidewalk to one of their cars.

I buckle my seatbelt after starting the car. I plug in my aux cord and put on my driving playlist, that consists of upbeat songs to bop to at redlights.

I back out of my parking stall, and drive out of the parking lot. I drive to Addy and Andrews middle school to pick them up.

I drive down the freeway, listening to Bebe Rexha. I softly sing along to the music, feeling my sore throat. I let go of the wheel by one hand, and cough into my arm. It doesn't make my singing or throat pain any better.

I finally arrive at their school. Andrew waves as I pull up in front. I smile and wave. He walks over and opens the back passenger door, tossing his bag in. He closes the door and opens the front passenger door. He climbs in. I look up and see Addy standing in front of a brunette boy, who is a couple inches taller than her.

"Who's that?" I ask, pointing to the boy. Andrew looks down at his phone. "Nolan," He says.

I nod. "Nolan? Does Nolan have a last name?"

He looks up at me. "Nolan Bennett. Addy is obsessed with him," He says. I look over and watch Addy talk with him. Her back turned to us, and him facing us. They both laugh. He opens his arms for a hug. Addy hugs him tightly, and legs go. He waves goodbye, and Addy turns around. She walks over to the car and opens the back door. She tosses her bag into the seat. She gets in and closes the door.

"So, Nolan?" I ask, looking up in the rear view mirror. She looks at me with a shocked look. "Andrew!"

"She was asking me a lot!"

"Why are you hiding it? It's okay, Addy," I say, pressing the break as I shift the car into drive. I let go of the break and gently press the gas.

"Because if dad finds out, I'll be dead."

"You both know the shit I've done, I'm still living!" I joke.

Andrew smirks.

"True, but I'm younger than you were when you met Jace," Addy says.

"Nolan seems like a nice boy. Plus, we only see dad part time. Mom would probably rather you bring him over to our house first," I say.

"I never said we were gonna date," Addy says.

"Well, you want to, don't you?"

"Ye- No!"

"Shut up, we know you're lying," Andrew says.

I smile. "If you want to date him, I suggest you become friends first. Get his number and hang out with him!"

Addy looks out the window. "I wonder why dad wanted us to come over tonight," She says.

"Well, he called me around 2am just to tell me about it. I probably wouldn't of known if I didn't answer," I say.

"Why were you up at 2am?" Andrew asks.

My eyes widen. "Studying," I say.

He nods.

"Do you think dad has a girlfriend?" Addy asks, from the backseat.

"He couldn't catch a woman that fast if he tried," I say, without even thinking before I speak.

Addy bursts into laughter. Andrew jerks his head towards me.

"Just because he's mean to you doesn't mean you cut him down like that," He defends.

I roll my eyes, stopping at a light. "I'm sorry, bud. I didn't mean to say that," I say.
