Chapter 18.)

Jace's POV.

Anna opens the front door of her house, wearing a loose, cream colored long sleeved shirt and jeans. Her hair is straightened. She flashes a smile. "Jace? What are you-"

"I know I didn't call like I usually do. This was kinda important, if you wanna say it that way," I say, putting my hands in my pockets. Anna raises an eyebrow. Violet wobbles over to the doorway. She reaches up for me as she smiles big. "J-J!" She says in a high pitched screech. Anna looks at her and giggles. I wave to Violet.

"She's been calling you J-J for the past couple days now. I guess it's easier for her to say," She says, gently putting her hand behind Violets hug, rubbing her thumb against Violets soft, brunette curls. I grin. Anna looks up at me.

"Why aren't you coming in?" Anna asks, nervously. I turn my body and look back at my car, parked in the driveway.

"I need you and Violet to come out," I say. Anna picks up Violet, and slips her feet into some flip flops next to the door. She walks out and follows me to the car.

I open the trunk. Two large boxes sit in the back, along with a mattress and a bag. Anna's quizzed facial expression softens into a sweet and shocked look. Her lips part, as she stands staring at the furniture.

"I tried to match it with the colors of her room now," I say, looking at the boxes, then Anna. She still stands with a shocked look. Violet pats her cheek. I chuckle.

"Anna?" I ask.

"I can't believe- I can't believe you did this," She says, looking at me. She walks over and hugs me, while holding Violet on her hip. "Thank you so much," She says softly.

I kiss her cheek. "I don't want you stressing about things you shouldn't," I say. She looks at the furniture. "Can you help me set it up?" She asks, giggling. I laugh and nod.

Anna's POV.

I tuck the sheets under the corners of the mattress on Violets bed. I'm still in awe over what Jace did. It was incredibly sweet of him. I'm really happy about it. I'm happy to have him back in my life.

Violet runs down the hall and turns into her room. She stops with her eyes wide open. She looks at the bed.

"Violet! You weren't supposed to come in until later, so I can surprise you!" I say. She giggles. She climbs onto her bed and lays down. She closes her eyes and smiles big.

"Do you like it?" I ask. She nods. "Is it mine?" She asks.

I nod. "Of course! Everything in this room is yours," I say, playing with her toes. She giggles and kicks her feet around. Jace walks into the room. I look up at him. I smile.

"I will never get over this. I'm so happy," I shake my head. Jace smiles.

"That was my plan," He says. I laugh. I look back at Violet. She sits on her bed, playing with her pillows.

"I think tomorrow, I'll drop Violet off at my moms and we can spend the day together," I say.

Jace looks down, then at me. "Or you could leave Violet with me and go out and enjoy yourself for the night," He says.

I squint my eyes. "Another plan of yours, huh?" I say, licking my lips. He nods. I smile.

"That's sweet. I'd like to do that," I say. He nods. "I can set up my air mattress for her to sleep on," He offers. I look down.

"Thank you so much for everything. It's not like I couldn't handle things on my own, but it's nice to have someone here with me and with Violet. Someone supporting me, and making me feel like I'm doing what I can. That's all I really wanted," I say.

Jace nods. "You're doing great," He whispers. I smile. I sigh.

"I also really want Violet to grow up with two parents. Instead of one playing two. Or one parent and the other coming in and out. I want two solid parents," I explain. Jace looks at me. He purses his lips.

"Anna?" He asks.

I look up at him. "Yeah?" I reply.

Jace looks me in the eyes. "I wanna be Violets dad," He says.

My heart throbs. I feel from his look and tone of voice how serious he is. How real he is.

I lick my lips. I think about it, and what to say.

"As her mom, I want to do things knowing what's best for her and I. Shes my priority, my baby, my everything. I just want her to grow up and have the best life. I'd really appreciate and love if you adopted her from Alex," I say.

Jace's face lightens up. "Really?" He asks. I nod, feeling warmth in my heart. "I love you," I whisper, feeling my voice crack. Feeling everything inside me at complete tranquility and joy. Jace smiles. He bites his lip. He looks at Violet. Violet climbs down from her bed, and wanders to her dollhouse. She plops down on the floor, and grabs her barbies.

"I love you too, Anna," He says, looking me in the eyes and holding my hands.
