Jace's POV.

"You should have seen her, Cor! She looked great," I exclaim, sitting down at the bar table. Corey cracks a slight grin as he takes a swig from his beer bottle.

"I think you're forgetting I see her everyday," He retorts. I roll my eyes.

I look down, letting out a deep breath. I can't believe Anna has a kid. I can't believe how much she's changed.

"You gotta admit she looked amazing," I say, tilting my head and sitting back in my chair.

"I'm married, Jace. I can't say that," Corey chuckles. I look over at Sean. Sean smiles. "She's doing good, I can tell," He says. I nod, taking a drink from my bottle.

"She invited me over for dinner. Should I go?" I ask.

Corey nods. "She's a great cook," he adds. I smile.

"You wanna get back together with her?" Sean asks.

I look at him. "I kinda miss the dating scene. She was really the only person I dated," I say.

"I can tell you right now, she doesn't have time," Corey shakes his head.

I bite the inside of my cheek, crossing my arms. "How?"

"She's got a kid, dude! And a daycare! She's a single mom, running an at home business."

"I could help with Violet, right? It'll be fine," I say, shaking my head.

"Plus, both of you have changed and matured. But who can say that what happened five years ago won't happen again? I mean, you're talking about starting a volatile relationship in front of her kid and other people's children. It's a risk," Sean says.

"Oh Sean, shut up! Neither of them will let that happen again and you know it," Corey argues. I nod and take another drink. Sean looks at Corey. He furrows his eyebrows. "I was just-"

"You're both right. But besides tonight, the last time I drank was nearly a month ago. I'm doing better than I was when I was seventeen. I got my own place, a steady job as an EMT, and im just going with the flow of things. Anna is the same," I say.

Corey nods. "In that case, go get her back!" He says. I smile.

Anna's POV.

I groan as I roll over in bed. The sun shining bright through the white curtains in my bedroom. I take a deep breath, peacefully enjoying my sleep in time.

I look at the alarm clock on my nightstand.

8:45am.

I rub my eyes, and pull the blanket and sheet off me. I stand up and stretch my arms. I walk out of the bedroom and down the hall to the kitchen. I open a cabinet and take out a maroon coffee mug. I pour myself a pot of coffee.

I hear soft sounds coming from Violets bedroom. I set the mug down and turn around, walking to her bedroom. I turn the corner and see Violet sitting up in her crib, smiling at me. I smile.

"Hello Violet!" I greet, picking her up from her crib. "You're getting a little too big for a crib now, Vi," I say, tickling her toes. She giggles as I tickle her. "Mommy's gonna have to buy you a toddler bed," I say, setting her down and letting her wander out of the room.

I follow Violet out to the living room. She plops on the floor after she grabs one of her baby dolls.

"Baby!" She shouts, holding her up. I smile and nod. "Is that your baby?" I ask.

She smiles and nods. "My baby," She says. I smile. I take a drink of my coffee. I open the fridge and take out some fruit for breakfast. Along with some eggs. I quickly set up to make scrambled eggs.
