Chapter 3: To Be Stone

One of the keys on the piano popped off and Mia went to see if the power stone was under it. It was, she got it and lifted it into the air killing all of the sirens. She ran back to the Base and put the first power stone into a hole on the wheel on the door in the Base, where it fit perfectly. "Mia, your back!" Jobe said. "Purr Mia, always you winning the death challenge." Nene said. Ava was on one of the couches crying that Hailey, one of her cousins, had died. However she was still happy Mia survived, but she still wished that they both could have somehow survived. "Wait so Hailey's dead?" Evan asked. "Yeah." Mia replied. "Wow. Guys what are we gonna do? If 1 of us has to die for a stone and we need 8 more that means 8 more of us have to die. Right? And that means only one of us is leaving here alive." Evan said. "Well we need to find a way to let the rest of us survive. And when we get all the power stones we're gonna kill Cryptious." Ava said. "Now let's get the next power stone." Jobe said. When they were walking out Mia stayed at the doorway and stopped Max on his way out. "What are you doing?" Max said. "I know you're the one who voted me into the death challenge." Mia said. "And? What are you gonna do about it?" Max replied. "Watch your back." Mia said. They all split up into the same groups again except this time Max was with Bella.

About 3,000 years ago...

Medusa was trying different rituals to turn herself back into the beautiful maiden she used to be, she hated being a monster. Black and red dust rose from the ground forming into cryptious. "Who are you!" Medusa said. The snakes her hair was made out of hissed at cryptious. "I am Cryptious, and here to make a deal with you..." "I have a way to turn you back into your old beautiful self, the person you used to be." Cryptious said. "Really?" "Yes." "Thank you!" Medusa said. "But you must do something for me in exchange." Cryptious said. "Anything!" Medusa said. "Okay, I need you to get something for me. I will take you to a place called Death Valley. It is a place in the future. There is something outside of its forcefield that I need. It's a box, and I want it for my museum. If you get this for me, I will turn you back to normal." Cryptious said. "Okay" he opened the portal to Death Valley and Medusa went through it. She got the box and went back. "The box was a maroon color and there was a circle-ish thing with roots stretching all around the box that were gold. It had red lights on it that resembled eyes and something in Greek lettering on top of it. She gave it to Cryptious, but instead of keeping his word he took the box and blasted her with evil magic making her under his control. Her last words before being corrupted by him were "I trusted you." And he said, "You should never trust a guy who has a symbol that means evil on him." She was now under his control and had no free will whatsoever. "And now I have 2 new collections in my museum."

A whispering voice started saying, "Find her 3 amulets

the one with snakes for hair

but beware she can be a scare

If you look into her eyes

she will give you a deathly stare

The stare will make you feel alone

and after that is when you turn to stone." "What is that?" Leila asked. "I think it's talking about Medusa." Jobe said. "Then should we go to the Medusa Exhibit?" Ava said. They all agreed, and went to the Medusa Exhibit. "There's a poem over here!" Evan said. "Read it." Ava said. "Find her 3 amulets

The one with snakes for hair

But beware she can be a scare

If you look into her eyes

she will give you a deathly stare

The stare will make you feel alone

And after that is when you turn to stone." Evan said. "It's the same poem that the voice is singing." Ella said. "And its saying to find 3 amulets." She said again. "So that means we have to find three amulets." Leila said. Jobe got the poem and turned it around. It had something on the back of it. To Find the Eyes of Medusa go to the place of sight. "Isn't Thiea the Goddess of Sight? Jobe said. "Oh yes! And there's a Thiea exhibit!" Max said. As they left the exhibit Mia pulled Nene to the side "Girl, can you vote Max in the next time we vote, he voted for me last time." Mia said. "Yes, this what he get for messing with you." Nene said. "Okay lets go to the Theia Exhibit." Mia said. They were all in the Thiea exhibit once again, and they saw one of the amulets in a clock. "There a rod right there for the fireplace." "Knock it out of the clock I'll catch it." Nene said. "No your not gonna catch it, and it gonna shatter, and then we're gonna be stuck here forever!" Jobe said. "Give me the rod!" Nene said. "No!" Jobe said. They were basically playing tug of war with the rod. Ella snatched the rod from them and hit the amulet, catching it in her hand. Nene and Jobe both looked at each other and rolled their eyes. "You guys are like children." Ella said. They found another amulet in the fireplace, and the Portunus statue with the death challenge room key in it in a lamp. A card was attached to the second one. You can get the last amulet in the death challenge, Medusa has the 2nd power stone. You can take it from her after you turn her to stone with the three amulets. "Ugh! Are you serious!" Leila said. "So someone else is gonna die?" Mia asked. "I guess." Jobe said. "Its time to vote." Athena said. They headed back to the Base to go and vote. "Everyone who is good with me come over here!" Leila, Bella, Nene, Jobe, Ava, and Ella all went over. "Vote for Max because he voted me in last time we voted." Mia said. They all said okay and went back to go vote. "The two people who are going into the second death challenge are..."
"Max and Evan." Athena said. Max and Evan had been best friends since 1st grade. So this would be very hard for them. They knew one of them would die and the other would carry the guilt of the loser's death until they died. The death challenge door was in the Theia Exhibit and Bella found it this time. Evan unlocked the door and it took them to a different dimension. It looked like a jungle and they walked into the ancient pyramid in front of them and Medusa was inside. They had to find Medusa's real name when she was a beautiful maiden. There were two sides of the room, there were letters on little plates of gold that they had to find and arrange in order to find her name. Each plate was hidden behind something and whoever found her name first would win and survive but the loser would die. But Medusa would be chasing them and if she caught them, the snakes on her head would bite them, stunning them for 20 seconds. They had 10 minutes to find every plate and recite Medusa's real name to kill her before the amulets broke and released a noxious gas filled the temple, killing them both. "Let's start." Evan found one of the plates and so did Max. They both eventually found them all and now just had to find out what her name was. Medusa got max and he was out for 20 seconds. Evan figured out her name and yelled it out sealing Max's fate. "Ophisa!" Evan yelled. The last amulet fell on the table in front of him and all three of them started floating in the air spinning in a circle over Medusa. Medusa turned Max to stone, he was the second person who died tonight. The amulets merged together forming an eye looking amulet. Medusa looked into it and turned to stone. A brick fell off of the wall in the temple and the second power stone was inside of the empty space. And he got it. He used its power to teleport to the base where the others were and put the second power stone into the door. "Evan you're alive!" Jobe said. "Yeah I'm so happy we voted Max in, now I don't have to worry about me dying." Mia said. "Wait what!?" "You guys voted Max into the death challenge!" Evan said. "Yeah, he was voting for Mia." Nene said. "Me and him have been best friends since 1st grade and you guys basically just made me kill him!" Evan said. "I'm sorry we didn't realize how much this would affect you." Ella said."Wait if you didn't vote for Max and we all did means that Max is the only one who could have possibly voted you in..." Jobe said. Evan was in shock from how bad Max had betrayed him. Evan thought in his head, "Oh to be stone..."
