Chapter 6: Hellish Ways

"How are both of you alive?" Mia asked. "I don't know, it was just the type of death challenge it was. Jobe knew the answer to the riddle so I said what he said and it worked." Ava said. "So does this mean we can find a way to like, cheat the system?" Bella asked. "I think." Jobe said. "Let's go back to the Base." Evan said. They used the power stone to teleport to the base, including nene. They put the next power stone into the door and heard something open. It was a drawer on one of the antique shelves in the living area. There was a card inside. "Death is coming!" A voice said. It was female. "Oh no..." Athena said. "I know that voice." She said again. "What do you mean?" Bella asked. "She's here..." "WHO'S HERE!" Jobe exclaimed. "Hell personified." Athena said. "Thanata." They heard something outside, lightning and fire. Bella got the card that was in the drawer and put it in her pocket. There was red and orange smoke everywhere. The exhibits were starting to become more powerful. It was getting to the point where exhibits were coming to them. There were ugly monsters everywhere and they were chasing the group around. It was hot outside of the Base and they didn't know where to go next. But Bella did, she had the card. She was at Greek gobblers, she locked the door and she read the card. "Thanata will show herself in 15 minutes. Cryptious has told her to kill you all with her army and that if that didn't work, for her to kill you all on her own. The death challenge will not be by vote, everyone will go into it and one would die." Bella said. She knew that time had passed since the card originally was found, so they didn't have a lot of time left. She peaked her head out and saw that the others were all in the Egyptian Exhibit going into the trapdoor from earlier to hide from the monsters. She waited until the coast was clear and darted out of Greek Gobblers as fast as she could. She ran to the Egyptian Exhibit and crawled through the trapdoor to get to Ancient Giza. "GUYS!" She yelled. They all looked at her and cricked their necks. Their heads fell off and hit the ground. It started turning red in the area she was in and their bodies started convulsing and monsters came out of them. She ran out through the trapdoor and was back in the Egyptian exhibit. She was looking for her real friends, not the ones that Thanata tried to trick her with. She was thinking, why did I split up from them? "Hahahaha!" Thanata laughed. "Find my ember in 5 minutes! Or you all die!" Thanata said. They all ran into each other in the Thiea exhibit. "We're about to die! Everyone! Look everywhere!" Jobe said. It had been 5 minutes. It's time for all of you to die! She started levitating in the air and brought maroon spikes up from the ground. In the middle of her chest was the ember. "Oops, I forgot I still have the ember on me!" "I think I'll just kill you all anyways!" She said. Red magic started shooting out of her chest. They were trapped in the middle of the spikes she had raised from the ground. Nowhere to run, but Athena was with them still. When Thanata shot the magic at them Athena fired it back at her. She had some power left. She broke a hole in the spikes and they got out, Thanata looking lifeless on the floor. "You killed her!" Evan said. "Yes!" He said again. "How are we gonna get the power stone though?" Ava asked. "I think I have a solution..." Athena said. "What." Bella asked. "Well not for you guys, but for me." Athena said. "What are you saying?" Ella asked. "What if I could become an all powerful being?" Athena had absorbed death magic from Thanata. It had corrupted her, but it had also given her lots of power. It had activated Athena's fullpower and had merged it with Thanata's power.Thanata had absorbed pure essence from her. Thanata was the Goddess of Death. She couldn't die. She was the embodiment of death. Thanata rose from the ground. "What if I could be free from this place? What if I could have my full power back? CRYPTIOUS! HEAR ME!" Athena yelled. Lightning struck the ground and cryptious' face was in black smoke floating in the air. "What do you want, Athena? And why are you out of your exhibit!" He asked. "Let me join you, I am willing to do it! Just let me free from this hell!" Athena said. "I want to help you guys! I want to escape from here too! I've been Cryptious' slave for thousands of years. Athena absorbed the part of me that was evil when I shot her with my magic. I can be your new guide to go around, follow me." Thanata said. "How can we trust you! What if you just betray us like she did?" Evan asked. "I will help you guys! Please follow me! I was the 12th thing ever in here, I know my way around." Thanata said again. They followed her and went into her exhibit. "Thanata has betrayed you, she is working with the mortals." Athena said. "I will make you the new guardian of the fifth power stone, if you kill all of them by sunrise, you can be free from me, even whenI become a universal being. Pledge your allegiance to me." Cryptious said. "I pledge my allegiance to you Cryptious!" Athena said. The power stone appeared in her hands. She said, "Start the death challenge. There will be no vote!" Athena said. "All of you will go in! But one of you won't come out!" Athena said. Cryptious' head had disappeared. Athena raised her hands and magic appeared in her hands. Cryptious's lackeys of corruption rose from the ground. There were 14 of them. They grabbed the 7 of them and brought them to Athena. You will all choose one person to be killed. If you don't choose in 5 minutes, you will all be killed by Cryptious' lackeys." Athena said. "Are you serious? There's no chance to fight. You just die?" Ava said. "Yes. NOW VOTE!" Athena said. Thanata was blasting the forcefield around them with her powers trying to get through so she could help them, but it didn't work. "Who should we pick?" Mia asked. They all looked at Mia. "Why are y'all looking at me? You guys aren't gonna pick me are you?" Mia said. "We have to choose someone... I'm sorry Mia..." Evan said. "No! I don't want Mia to die!" Jobe said. "Me either!" Bella said. "Yeah, I'm not voting for Mia." Nene said. "I think we should vote for Evan." Bella said. "SHUT UP! It seems like there is a tie..." "That means that the 2 people in the tie will die!" Athena said. Mia and Evan were bitten by Cryptious' Lackeys on the neck and died. The Lackeys went into the ground and the forcefield broke. Athena also disappeared. But the power stone was on the floor. It was red and black. They were all in tears. They got the power stone and put it into the door. Ava out of all of them was the saddest. Her twin brother had died. It felt like she lost a part of herself when he died. "I'm sorry, the force field wouldn't break. I think that if I use too much of my power that the good in me will go away. It's only temporary." Thanata said. "I hate Cryptious and his Hellish Ways." Ava said.
