My new story idea.
The weather was freezing cold and dark clouds were forming in the sky. She couldn't tell if it was because it was nearly dark outside or because there was a storm coming, but either way it wasn't pleasant. The November weather really wasn't pleasant, especially in the evenings. All she wanted to do was sit at home, but she wasn't quite sure what home was anymore since her father threw her out of the house and left her homeless.
This was night 6 on the streets for Harley. She had tried to lay down or at least sit down on the floor and lean on a wall during the nights, but the frigid cold was too much for her to sleep in. She even tried to rest a few times already tonight, but gave up quickly and decided to walk along and down the centre of some empty roads that lead out of town.
Harley only had £20 in her jeans pocket and her mobile phone that was on less than 10% battery life. She wanted to call her dad and ask for forgiveness, but knew he'd ignore her cry for help. She decided to just push her father to the back of her thoughts and keep going, she wanted to be more of a runaway teen rather than a homeless teen.
By the time the sun rose up (7:56am) Harley had walked an unknown amount of miles to the very next town that neighboured her hometown. The streets were empty and she noticed that a few of the red and grey terraced houses had lights on inside which probably meant adults and children were getting ready for work and school now. She kept walking though the slightly unfamiliar town until she found a bench to sit on.
Harley had been to this town quite a few times before, but she never spent more than a few hours here at a time. She used to be driven through the town on the way to school and she even would visit her mother (when she was alive) here at the local hospital, but all of those visits were very minimal. Harley just wanted to be safe and warm for the first time in a whole week.
The bench she found was old and made of wood. The cold weather had affected the wood on the bench and made it appear and feel soggy. The back of the bench had an engraved tag on it that wrote. 'In loving memory of Tom Riddle Sr.' 'Tom Riddle Senior? I won't who he is?' Harley supposed that he was maybe an old mayor of the town, and he was clearly very respected in the area despite never hearing his name before.
She looked around at where she was now the sun had poked itself out more so the sky was clearer than had been for many hours. There were many other benches with engraving on them. 'In loving memory of Aberforth Dumbledore', 'In memorial - Albus Dumbledore', In memory of Ariana Dumbledore'. Harley read. 'Siblings?' She thought. She went on, 'In memory of Percival Graves - One of the lost boys'. 'What the heck does a lost boy mean?' She thought. She perched her bum on the Percival Graves bench and watched as parents escorted their young children to school. A few of the children played and ran up to the benches and asked their parents about them. The parents looked different to Harley and so did the children. Harley couldn't quite put it into words, but there was something different about them. Was a different sort of gleam in their eyes? Was it Harley just loosing her mind after been cold and hungry for a week? Perhaps.
Like before, Harley pushed her weird ideas into the back of her mind and she tried to ignore her rumbling belly. Well, she tried to, but it was hard to when she was surrounded by screaming children that said silly words like Galleon, Poltergeist, Quidditch and of course, Hogwarts. 'Why does everyone here basically speak a whole new language?' She thought to herself. Some of the parents, (mainly the mothers) seemed to be able to tell that Harley was confused and gave her sympathetic smiles as they walked past her. 'What the heck?' She thought again.
About half an hour passed and the children and the parents were long gone now. Harley got up and walked across the road and went to the closest place that looked like a shop. This was when things became fishy. There were two sort of... areas of the new town. One was the regular bog-standard type of town with cute little terraced houses and a little park with a couple swing sets in it, but behind that, there was a odd version of the town. The town wasn't picture perfect like you'd see in a cute Hollywood movie, it was dark... like a massive cloud had covered the whole area with a shadowy darkness that was filled with evil. Harley wanted to turn away and run, but she felt compelled to pay the area a visit.
