Shouting was no unusual occurrence in Karma's household. Despite the pristine outside image the house held, the inside was a mess.

The TV would always be on the highest volume, with beer bottles laying around. A man would be laying on a lavish couch, alcohol staining his breath. His business-like attire would always get wrinkled, which would result in the man yelling at his wife.

When that happened, the wife would go downstairs and tend to him like a domesticated dog. Then, she would retreat upstairs, ignoring the glares and insults her husband would throw at her.

A child would wait upstairs for her. She would be surrounded by pretty flowers that would always die too soon, with a handmade flower crown on her pitch-black hair. She was a bit bizarre sometimes, but would always put a smile on others' faces. The child was beautiful, despite being ostracized for her golden-like skin from her Italian roots. At times, the mother wished she could return to the past and go to Italy, but her husband demanded of she to stay in his hometown in Japan.

Just at the thought of her past, which would always show up when looking at her child, the mother would start to cry and murmur, "I'm so sorry Karma. I'm so sorry."

"For what?" The girl would say in response. Her mother would never answer.

When morning came, her mother would go downstairs and help her husband go to work. He would leave, so the mother would try to desperately teach her daughter a bit of education before he came back. She was no teacher though, and Karma always had an affinity for nature than the cramped walls of their home.

Very few days happened when her stepfather would be missing for days at a time due to work. Those were times of much-needed peace. Karma's stepparent always would come home later in the evening though, and the cycle would repeat.

This is the cycle that Karma's mother and stepfather knew very well. But this wasn't the cycle Karma knew, for their cycle didn't involve their daughter meeting Jotaro Kujo at the playground every single day.

"Karma, look! I found new flowers for your flower crowns!"

Jotaro Kujo was a good kid, a seemingly normal schoolboy. A bit quiet sometimes, but he was a steady calm in Karma's life. He told her that his father was a musician, but was never around. His mother was extremely kind though. Karma sometimes called him JoJo, because of the beginning of Jotaro and the end of Kujo.

He was the opposite of his best friend, Karma, who always seemed to be playing in the dirt. Yet, the kind-mannered Jotaro couldn't help but follow the girl with emerald eyes and a knack for trouble.

"Really? For me?" She was gifted her favorite flowers - sunflowers. At that moment, the girl couldn't help but realize that she really, really, really liked Jotaro's company.
