Janet POV
I had to walk out of the rehearsal. Me and Jermaine haven't been happy lately. And he's been out these past two months. He has time for everybody else but me. We had a fight this morning because he came home from being out again.Instead of showing me attention he sleeps all day. So this morning I gave him a peace of my mind. Reading his text made my blood boil. I had to to walk out and call my best friend Gil.
I was on the phone with him for ten minutes. "I think he had a hickey on his neck this morning" I told Gil. "Janet I love you but I give you the same advice every time and you never take it. I don't know what you want me to say now" he said.
"I know I know but it's not easy to leave someone like him" Gil got silent and I heard the door from the building open.
"Aren't you tired of him lying to you?"
"Yes Gil and that's what I told him this morning"
"Maybe your brother can cheer you up"
"Maybe your right, I should go back. Bye Love you""Love you too girl" when I hung up I heard foot steps and the door closed again.
When I walked in the door I saw Chris walking back. "Hey" he kept waking. "Chris!" He turned around after I called his name.
"Yes Ms.Jackson"
"If your nasty" I giggled. He turned around grinning.
"Were you ease dropping on me outside" I raised my eyebrows waiting for his reply. " Yes I was your were talking bout how cute I am right?"He was smiling but I didn't find him funny. "Listen wise guy were you ease dropping out there" his smile dropped.
"No Janet I just came outside to look for you. I was checking if you left. You just walked out without saying goodbye to anybody. I saw you on the phone and came back I swear."
The look on his face made me trust every word he was saying. So I let my guard down.
I walked a little closer to Chris. "Thanks for checking on me. Are you heading back?"
"Yes I am"
"Can I walk back with you" I asked him. "Of course." We walked back in silence. "Ladies first" he said holding the door for me. "Thank you" I said blushing. It's the small things like that, that Jermaine doesn't do for me anymore. Opening the god damn door. He's too busy doing god knows what. He says he's working but that's not what I hear-
"JANET!"
It was Michael yelling in my face. "Huh?"
"Sorry I was thinking about something" I said feeling embarrassed. The whole room was staring at me."Michael I'm gonna go my head is somewhere else right now" "Is it Jermaine" he whispered too me.
"I'll tell you some another time not right now okay"
"Yeah when will that be" he asked as I grabbed my bag.
"Michael can I call you later? Everybody's doing a great job keep up the good work!"I walked to the door and stopped. I turned around and waved to Chris "Keep up the work kid."
He waved back smiling "You too Ms.Jackson."
While I was walking to my car I heard a voice."Wait, Janet!" I turned around it was Chris running towards me. "Look I don't' know what's got you down right now. But I hope you overcome whatever it is. Because I'd like to see you smile again."
He made me smile. "Chris you don't even know me. Why are you being so nice" "Because it's true Janet. You have a beautiful smile that just lights up the room. Just promise me the next time I see you, you'll be smiling." I couldn't hold it back but I was blushing.
"Yes Chris, I will. I promise" "Okay, Bye be safe" he said smiling.
"Get back in there you gotta go in there and stroke my brothers ego" he laughed. "Real funny" he said.
He opened my car door. "Thank you" I said getting in. "Bye Janet" he said closing the door. He waved before walking off.
He's really cute, I wonder what Gil would say.
