ONE YEAR LATER

Jin glanced over the map again, his finger tracing over each mark made. The leader of his knights, Jung Hoseok, approached with his helmet off and tucked under his arm. The metal he was donning was scratched and battered from weeks of traveling across the terrain. His sword was kept in its sheath, wrapped around his waist. Meanwhile his hair was tussled in little waves on the top of his head, his locks chestnut with blond tips covering the curls.

"Commander Jung," Jin said, Hoseok dipping his head.

"Prince Kim. My troops are tired, and if they're tired, our people are in even worse condition."

Jin wasn't entirely sure what the correct response to that would be, so he nodded and motioned to the next man approaching by Hoseok's side. He had a dark blazer on over his white button-down shirt, earrings dangling with a silver necklace to match them rubbing against his collarbone. However, his gold wedding ring contrasted the silver look he was going for. His dress pants matched his upper attire, his brown hair thick and on the top of his head, showing off most of his clean forehead. Despite his formal look, mud littered the bottoms of his pants and cuffs of his blazer from the traveling they've been doing.

"Mr. Park," Jin said, Jimin dipping his head in greeting.

"Mr. Kim, I checked with the commoners. What Commander Jung is saying is correct. We're exhausted from walking all day and night. I recommend a break."

"Is that not what this is, Ambassador Park?" Jin asked with a smirk tugging on his lips. Jimin chuckled and didn't disagree, approaching the map and observing the changes made. "There's a lot of unmarked territory up ahead. I'm thinking we can get there and search for a new home. Start building our kingdom from the ground up."

"We lost a lot of carpenters in the migration. I'll speak to my wife about it and see if she can unite the troops," Jimin said, Hoseok snickering. That resulted in Jimin pointing his baby finger at Hoseok in an attempt to look threatening. "Listen Mr. Commander."

"It's just Commander. Mr. sounds weir-"

"Mr. Commander, just because I'm in love does not mean she's not useful to our cause. The people like her more than they like me."

"That's not saying much."

Jimin whacked Hoseok's shoulder much to his dismay, Jin rolling his pretty eyes as the two had a lover's quarrel right in front of him. He went back to the map and wrapped it back up, hearing the voices of Jimin and Hoseok firing back and forth. Something about Jimin's love life and Hoseok's lack of one. Jin didn't care too much. Actually, that was a lie. Jin was a sucker for drama. But he did have a job to do, and he intended on carrying it out.

"Boys," Jin said, and Jimin and Hoseok stood at attention in a snap. "Jimin, talk to your wife and get the commoners onboard with my plan. Hoseok, gather up your knights. We're going to give the commoners a rest by scouting ahead. The unmarked territory could be dangerous, and I want my best with me in case it goes wrong."

"My prince, shouldn't we leave you behind in that case?" Hoseok asked, Jin shaking him off.

"This is a new era. I'm not about to let it go to waste." Hoseok didn't show if he agreed or disagreed with Jin's way of ruling. Regardless, he dipped his head and scurried off to do his job. Jimin lingered a moment, Jin raising a brow. At Jin's stare, Jimin realized he should move and left, searching for his redheaded wife in the crowd.

The moment of solitude Jin had gave him a second to gather up what little strength he had left. His kingdom was reduced to the size of a few dozen. And migrating from their broken kingdom to find a new one didn't help. Jimin was right: they lost many from the move. Both to the need for movement and illness creeping up on them. They didn't exactly have any medicine seeing as they didn't even have a roof over their heads.
