Jungkook tugged on the collar of his obnoxious getup, Hoseok dragging him up to the castle as if he was the solution to every problem they've ever had. His collar had three buttons that made it squeeze around his neck, and he unbuttoned all three of them so he could breathe. He had never worn something so ridiculous before, but Hoseok said it made him look like a prince. And in a way, that was true.
A cyan cape bejeweled with silver jewels he didn't recognized flew behind him. The dark collar was bent by his shoulders, the jewels littering there as well. Underneath he had the fanciest outfit he had ever worn in his life. Pointed shoes instead of boots, and they were dark with a belt buckle in the center of them. Jungkook had no problems with elegant attire, but this was a bit much. He was used to tunics and jerkins that were perhaps a bit too tight on his chest, but the truth was he wanted to show off in order to impress Gguk. Jungkook had never been in love before, but he was pretty sure this was it.
It wasn't butterflies. Well, it was, but there was more than that. He swore his eyes formed hearts whenever the man walked by, and he was in love with the way every conversation flowed. Even when they were silently in each other's company, Jungkook found his heart hopping around the insides of his chest. Regardless, he snapped himself back to reality and tugged on his cream-colored sleeves, grunting when they kept itching him.
"Sorry, but it makes you look good," Hoseok said, pointing to the flowers sewn into the sleeves of the shirt. It was long-sleeved with cuffs that flowed out and seemed like an opening to a cave. A navy, sleeveless blazer with golden designs embedded into it was on top of the pale shirt that was causing him such discomfort. Of course it didn't help that there were ruffles on it too, running down the center of his body until the low-cut blazer hid and flattened the rest of them.
Jungkook fiddled with his fingers and pretended he wasn't bothered by it, the hill leading up to the castle giving them a vantage point. Jungkook peeked down toward the waterfall, noting the cave where the old king resided. Much to his surprise, a man in a cloak was sitting in front of the waterfall. It was impossible to make out any facial features from this far away, but Jungkook recognized that dark cloak anywhere. He slowed his pace, Hoseok doing the same and frowning.
"I hate that," Jungkook said, Hoseok tilting his head and motioning for him to continue. "How he lives alone. No one should be alone. I wish there was a way to give everyone a home and family, but there's only so much I can do on my own."
"You do make a difference, Jungkook. You give homes to the people around you. Smiles, laughs, kindness. More than you realize, you help people. That's why I'm choosing you for this. You're Jimin's home. His family. There's no one better for this than you."
"Maybe Tae."
"That's a little unfair, Tae's everyone's rock," Hoseok replied with a chuckle, Jungkook mimicking the action. Hoseok pat Jungkook on the shoulder as they went through the front gates, the knights greeting them with their signature bows. Jungkook did his best to return them, but Hoseok's grip made it a challenge. "Remember to let Jimin do most of the talking, you're only there to analyze her facial expressions and provide Jimin emotional support."
"I think I got it." Jungkook gave him what he prayed was a reassuring nod, and Hoseok accepted it. He guided him through the castle, shimmering halls with knights lined up down the aisles meeting his eyes. Jungkook almost felt underdressed, and here he was looking like the king of the nation. Regardless, he followed Hobi down the pathways and navigated to one of the spruce wood doors by the back of the castle. It was near the outback area where Jin and the others buried the deceased woman.
A circular metal ring was acting as a door handle, Hoseok pulling it open and wincing at the creaking sound. "Well, that's not creepy at all," Jungkook said, Hoseok snorting before ushering Jungkook inside.
