For the second day in a row, Jin had come to serve Yoongi food in the cave. He bit back a snarl and a nasty remark as the man planted a bowl down. Yet again he made a fire, only this time, he had help. There was a man in a maroon jerkin with a loose, scaly long-sleeved tunic of the same color hiding underneath the sleeveless jacket. It was tight on him, showing off his well-built chest while the scar on his eyebrow shimmered in the flickering light of the fire.
The man also donned breeches, knee-high leather boots covering what the pants didn't. He had a sword strapped around his waist, his posture straight, and his veins peeking through his skin on the sides of his hands. Yoongi wasn't sure if this was a way of appearing more threatening, but he didn't care nonetheless.
Much to Yoongi's surprise, the bowl in front of the fire wasn't rabbit stew again. This one looked like a type of stew Yoongi hadn't seen before, and he brought his legs to his chest when the prince tilted it toward him. He pushed it as if encouraging Yoongi to move forward, but he refused to so much as budge.
"It's healthy. I cooked it myself. It's meant for calming your nerves and soothing the body. No meat, only vegetables," Jin said, pointing to the little lime-shaded leaves floating near the top of the liquid. Yoongi licked his lips because of his growling stomach, but he didn't make any moves to eat.
Jin placed a spoon inside the bowl, keeping it pointed toward Yoongi as he backed away and stood behind the fire. The stranger waiting by Jin's side kept his shoulders set and his back straight, his hand tapping along the corner of his sword handle. Now that seemed like a threat. Regardless, Yoongi paid it no mind.
"This is Jeon Jungkook. He's my spy, and also a loyal follower to our cause. A strong fighter, but more importantly, reliable when it comes to gathering information. If you have any questions about the status of your old kingdom, feel free to ask, and Jungkook will answer."
Jungkook dipped his head in greeting, but Yoongi didn't return it. He kept his burning eyes on Jin and not the spy, his gaze narrowing more by the second. "My apologies if my visit is unexpected or unwelcomed," Jungkook said, his free hand fiddling with the string on the side of his jerkin. "I believe the more company, the better. Maybe we can work together in the future. Or I can take you on a tour through the kingdom. We haven't named it yet, but we're expecting to call it Shadowcrest like our old home. That way we can honor the ones we lost in the migration and attack. I hope you don't mind us renaming it."
Yoongi kept his lips sealed, Jin and Jungkook not reacting to his silence. Yoongi would give them credit: they knew how to react to silence. That was something Yoongi never learned, even as a king. When someone was silent, he took it as a sign they were disobedient or uncomfortable. He didn't consider that they merely didn't have anything to say.
"King Min Yoongi, I saw a woman in the king's bed yesterday," Jin said. Yoongi went still, his skin a degree colder than it was a few seconds prior. "We didn't touch her. In fact, we closed off the room and decided to leave her be. May I ask who she was?"
Yoongi wasn't sure what to say. And that resulted in him lashing out and saying the absolute last thing he wanted to say. "How dare you come into my kingdom, my home, and ask me such questions," he said, closing his mouth right after he said it to stop spits and growls from leaving his lips.
"My apologies, I didn't mean to overstep." Jin rubbed the back of his head, pulling Jungkook back so they could speak out of Yoongi's earshot. His eyes were red with rage, his hands trembling under the sleeves of his cloak. He contemplated the best way to overpower the spy, Jungkook, and came to the conclusion that attacking them for asking a question was something only a fool would do.
