Jordan POV
Their Brother's Keeper's meeting was so successful, that they had to schedule one for the following week to get the momentum going. He felt that he learned a lot about himself after the meeting on cheating.
For the few girls he dated, things were over quickly due to him losing interest and cheating. He never even cared enough to feel remorse about it. And he thought, all guys do it, what's the big deal?
With Marketta, it never crossed his mind to cheat. Can't, there was Anika. If things were different in her situation, he would have made the move. If he was honest about it.
Now he was glad neither crossed the line and messed up their relationships. She was a cool friend to have, especially since they shared an interest in dance.
If and when he felt his relationship with Marketta was at an end, he would end things. The way he felt about Marketta now, he didn't see an end.
"Thanks for hanging out with me and doing this research with me."
They were in his room, late at night, sitting on his bed, both on their laptops digging up what they could find on the next topic, "Why can't men settle down with one girl?"
"I'm shocked you asked me to help with this. You know, get into the mind of a guy."
He only nodded at her. He did his research on the cheaters himself. He would never dare ask her that and get too close to comfort for him. He may be forced to lie for Manny or something.
"You should have a girl's perspective," Marketta offered.
He shook his head at that. "Why? This is for guys, about guys. Women and men just think differently, and that's fact."
"And if we understood each other that would solve tons of world problems."
"Hey, long and you and I good, I don't give a fuck about everybody else." He kissed her cheek. "We're good, right?"
She was quiet, did not say anything, ignored him, and typed away on her laptop.
"Marky, what's up?" He closed his laptop so he could focus on her. Maybe she was going to dump him right when he thought everything was cool. They vibed, they hung out, they made out, what could possibly be wrong?
"Nothing!"
"Don't say nothing when I asked if we're good and you go quiet."
"Just that...sometimes I think you just think of me as a friend...not your girlfriend."
"No, I don't!" This confused him. Why would she think that? "I feel like we are friends, but also you're my girl. Isn't that how it's supposed to be?"
"Yes but...since you're hot stuff on campus now, you could go find any other girl willing to be your friend."
He let out a frustrated sigh. He did not know where this was coming from. Sure, girls approached him all the time. He told them he had a girlfriend. None of them tempted him, so he was good. Maybe he was over all that get every girl he could get mentality. He sure did not start the relationship out with Marketta thinking like that.
"So you're saying you don't trust me? You think I would cheat?" Now they were crossing into the wrong territory, but they needed the talk.
"You wouldn't tell me the truth if you did."
She was barking up the wrong tree. That was his roommate, the player, not him. Maybe she knew something, about Manny's doings. And if she did, birds of a feather...
"First of all, no, I am not." He picked up her hand and held it. "And you know I'm down for you girl, I'm not trying to mess that up. And long as we open all lines of communication, talk...like we are now, there will not be any miscommunication. We're good Marky, according to me. I'm trying this new gentleman thing on for size, and I kind of like it."
