It was good to have a friend who was very good about math. So today I was going to Jakes’ house so “we” could study math together. When I say ‘we’ I mean, Jake was going to teach me. I was good at school in most of the subjects; it was just math that I had some serious problems with.
I was going to watch Lucas’s training today but studying with Jake was more important and much more useful. Besides, it was much more fun. Lucas was treating me badly lately and Jake, as always, was very nice to me. He understood me way better than Lucas.
I was quite excited to go to Jakes house. I mean, I never saw his house or his bedroom. I was curious to see what kind of bedroom he had. Was it organized or messy? Did it have posters or things like that? A person’s bedroom could tell a lot about that person.
The deal today was that Jake would help me with Math and I would help him with History.
I was thinking a lot about Jake lately I was dreaming with him and sometimes caught myself staring at him. The more I thought about Jake, the less I thought about Lucas. Last night I tried to list the reasons I was with Lucas and realized; I didn’t know. All of my reasons had been from when we first started dating. I also did a list of the reasons why I should break up with him, and that one was way longer. As I wrote the latter, I realized that Jake and Avery had already told me half of, if not all of the same reasons, but at the time I didn’t see it. Everything was so clear now, how could that be?
‘So isn’t this nice?’ Jake was suddenly by my side. I hadn’t even noticed him.
‘What? I didn’t hear you.’ I asked.
‘I said, that it was good that your parents let you come to my house to study.’ He repeated.
‘Yeah normally they would never have let me come, but they know you are one of the best math students.’ I explained.
He smiled. ‘And you are one of the best in history, so you will have to help me.’
‘Of course I will. What are friends for?’ I smiled too.
‘Yeah, friends.’ Jake repeated.
We were in our last class and it passed by very quickly. Before I knew it, I was already walking with Jake to his house. As we walked I looked at him. He was super hot today. He was wearing a blue shirt, black jeans, and a worn out black coat. Hey, just because I’m dating another boy doesn’t mean I can’t think that other boys are hot.
‘We’re here.’ Jake said. We had arrived at a gigantic house. I mean, it looked like a mansion. It was beautiful. There were some roses growing in the garden and a fountain. That was all I could see through the big gate. The gate opened and Jake went in and I just followed him like a robot.
Inside, the house was even more beautiful. Everything was super organized, all the walls were white and some had decorations and paintings hung up. There was one wall that had a strange painting on it. I couldn’t figure what it was.
‘I also don’t know what it is. It’s one of the strange paintings my mom has.’ Jake said. Noticing that I was trying to figure what it was.
On the first floor there was a huge dining room and another door that led to the kitchen. There was also a bar where Jake said his father drank with his friends. I figured it was from there that he got the vodka he was drinking that night.
Everything was very well designed. In contrast to the white walls, the stairs were made of black marble. The steps were very large; I think five people could stand side by side in one step.
The second floor had a big TV room with a huge sofa and a gigantic plasma TV with home theater and everything. Opposite to it were two guest rooms which were very big. There was also another set of stairs. I wonder to what it led to.
‘Up there is my parents’ room and my dad’s office.’ Jake explained. ‘My room is down here after this corridor.’
We walked through a long hall and we finally got to Jakes room. It was very simple compared to the rest of the house. It was the smallest room in the house, yet it was still big.
There was a bed in the corner a shelf full of books and DVDs. The room had a plasma TV and a big stereo. He had a large desk with his laptop on top.
From the window you could see the pool and a Jacuzzi. The backyard was huge. Jake pointed to me where the gazebo was and the place where normally his parents hosted parties. Well, mostly his father. It was like another house and it was pretty big too.
I could never have thought that Jake was this rich! He didn’t brag about his money like most kids in the school did.
Then he got his math book and put away his backpack and we started studying.
I couldn’t believe it; Jake had prepared flash cards with formulas and had printed some extra exercises. He was totally prepared to teach a girl that had no idea what she was learning – Me.
For the first half an hour I didn’t understand anything he said. However, after Jake repeated the same thing a hundred times I finally started understanding and everything got easier. Jake was quite a good tutor; he didn’t even get mad when I got the exercise wrong for the fourth time. I would need to prepare myself the same way when we studied history.
