Chapter Thirteen: Faced with a Murderer

In the Warden's Office:

   I opened the door slowly and saw him staring at the fireplace. I pointed the gun at him and said "It's over, Warden! Your ass is grass!" He then turned around and began to laugh. "Hahaha!!! Aww, you're really tough just like your mama. Ya know that?", he said with an evil look to his face. I then unlocked the gun and got even angrier than ever. "You're a f*cking murderer! And I'm not going to let you get away from me this time! The cops will soon see the real you! Then you'll be done for.", I shouted. "Oh!", he replied. "So you'll be seeing me being taken away with these?" The moment he said that, he showed me the papers in his hands: my prison file, his journal writing, and the will. I looked at him in shock as he put them over the fireplace. "DROP THEM ON THE FLOOR!", I demanded while pointing the gun closer. But all he did was look at me with a mean face. "Now I think you know better than to test me...", he said. I then got angrier and said, "Why are you doing this to me?! You murdered my family and got my ass sent to jail for no reason! How could you be so heartless?..." As I finished my sentence, the Warden then gave me a face of confusion; he was remembering everything that's happened up till this point. "I don't consider myself heartless... I just wanted her back with me...", he said with tears in between. I saw that the Warden was feeling really upset at this point; maybe he was finally seeing remorse, or putting on an act to distract me. Still, I kept my gun up.

Down the Halls of the Prison:

   All the prisoners got the signal to get the guards to run after them the moment they heard police sirens outside. It was like a wave full of inmates and officers. "I have to go find Buns!", Yancy said while running. "Agreed!", Bam-Bam said. "She might be in trouble! Get to the Warden's office. We'll meet you over there! The TVs should be up any second now!" Yancy turned towards another hall as everyone kept on running to the Warden's office. He made it back to Bella's cell and saw the hole. "Don't worry, Buns! I'm coming!", he shouted as he jumped in.

In the Warden's Office:

   As I still pointed my gun at him, he just stood there still remembering what he did to my parents. Even more tears went down his face. "I honestly can't believe that I let this happen out of nowhere... I thought that if I got my revenge on her, everything will be okay... But it's not...", he said. He even walked up a bit to me, but I took a few steps back. After wiping away his tears, he said "I'm really sorry... I really am... I shouldn't have got you thrown in prison for something that wasn't on you... An apology may be not enough, but I really want to tell you that I regret everything that's happened so far..." As he kept coming towards me, he opened his arms up wide. "Are you going to choke me or something?", I said. He then shook his head "no" and came closer to me. Tears started to go down my face too, as I put the gun in my hands down. Next thing you know, I was in his arms with his head on my shoulders.

Outside the Office:

   Everyone was looking at the TV monitors and gasped in shock. They all saw that he was hugging a prison inmate and admitted to putting her in jail for a murder that he did.

Back Inside:

I'm really sorry, Bella...", he said. He then looked at me while I still had tears going down my face. However, I felt something pointing at my stomach. "I really am!", he said. And the moment he said that, a huge shot sound filled the room. I felt the bullet inside me immediately. I felt really dizzy, as I fell to the ground.

Outside the Office:

After hearing the gunshot and seeing Bella fall to the ground, everyone gasped and screamed in fright. Even after hearing someone yell inside.

Back Inside:

"NOOO!!!!", Yancy yelled as he got out from the hole and attacked the Warden immediately. Making him drop the papers in his hands. Yancy put up a good fight with a few punches, but it ended quickly when another shot went off in the room. Next thing you know, he was down, too. The Warden got up from the ground with the papers and spoke in the walkie-talkie. "We need a couple officers to come into my office. Two prison members escaped their cells and started to attack me. But it all ended up with them both killing themselves. Send an ambulance." After talking in the walkie-talkie, he looked at Yancy and Bella dead on the ground. "I told you both... I tried to be nice to you both, but you just had to try me. At least now you're with your stupid families...", he said while putting the gun away.

Outside the Office:

As the Warden opened the door, he went into shock to seeing everyone (including the officers) standing outside looking angry. He was confused at first, but that was until he looked up at the TV monitor and saw the camera recording live inside his office. He then looked back at everyone and saw some officers walking up to him. "Wha- They we're attacking me! They escaped their cells and tried to kill me! Why are you coming at me with handcuffs?! No! Please! No!", he stuttered as the officers cuffed him. Making him drop the papers and walk out. One of the officers picked up the papers and saw everything inside that belonged to Bella. "Looks like we're going to have to make changes in this case. In the meantime, send an ambulance here now.", he said.

Back Inside the Office:

   After the door closed, I opened my eyes and sighed in relief. Turns out I was alive; those bulletproof vests really do work for the law. But as I got up, I remembered that Yancy got shot. I saw his body laying there and went over. Blood was pouring out of his chest, and I put my hand over his wound. I even saw that he was still trying to keep his eyes open. "Yancy! Don't worry! You're going to be okay! Just hang in there! The ambulance is coming! Please... Just don't leave me...", I said while tearing up a bit. He then looked at me crying and ran his fingers through my hair. "Bella.... Yous.... Yous are always forever in my heart...", he said quietly. As more tears went down my face, I said to him "And you are in mine, too." Yancy's eyes didn't stay opened any longer. He took his last breath and closed his eyes permanently. My heart was really broken. I went straight into more tears and hugged him tight. The last person that I found amazing in my life, was now gone for real. "*Crying* Yancy... Please... Don't leave me... It's not worth being free if I don't have you in my life...", I said while burying my head on his heart. As I continued to cry, I saw a light glowing right in front of me. It was my mom again, but also my dad, and two other people that looked like Yancy's parents. I was immediately stunned. "Honey... You saved not just us, but yourself too.", my mom said. I wanted to give her a smile, but I couldn't. I just looked down at Yancy's body and said, "I did... But I couldn't save him... I love him..." They all looked at me for a second and smiled at my agreement. I even saw his mom walk up to me and placed her hand on my shoulder. "Watching you grow up was making us all see that you were safe. Even how you sacrificed everything to save him. That's how I saw him after I wore that necklace around your neck. I think you'll need it more than I do now.", she said. No wonder why this heart pendant came out of nowhere. I looked at it dangling from my neck and smiled at her. I even saw my mom place her hand on Yancy's wound to his heart. "Take care of yourself, dear... Everything inside that will belongs to you.", she told me. I shook my head at her and smiled with a few tears. As his wound closed up, everyone looked at me one last time before disappearing. "Make sure you both stay out of trouble.", his dad said. I gave out one last smile as they all disappeared out of nowhere. Once they were gone, I heard Yancy waking up. I got down on my knees and placed my hands on his face. Tears still went down my face as he woke up. "Y-Yancy?...", I said. He opened his eyes and gave me a smile. "Bella... Have I ever told yous that I'm allergic to peanut butter?...", he said randomly. I immediately burst into happy tears and gave him a big hug. He hugged me as tight as he can and buried his face on my shoulder. I then looked at him again and went in for a kiss quickly. We both closed our eyes and continued to enjoy the fact that we made it out alive.
