Chapter 178: Chase II

[Outskirts of the Kingdom, Near the border]

Being ambushed in this forested area, every soldiers and unit became alarmed as they started retaliating against the attacks of the cult members of the Diabolos cult. Well for starters the elite unit of the kingdom which are the members of the Aqua force are quite capable people who are able to stand against the members of the cult in one on one battle, but the same cant be said true towards the soldiers of the kingdom.

For one member of the cult which is trained and enhanced for battle by the officers and seniors of the cult, it takes about 3 to 5 soldiers to at least stand a chance against it, but the percentage of winning against the member of the cult is still dim. After all every cult member are people who are trained well in terms of mixed close combat and magic battle, thus their proficiency in engaging in battle itself is far more efficient and experienced than an ordinary soldier.

However the members of the elite force of the kingdom aren't the only ones who are able to contend against the members of the cult, some people who holds titles and responsibility in the army are also people that can stand against the cult members. Such people are the Generals, Commanders, captains, and other ranked people of the military line.

Despite that the whole army was caught in surprise from this ambush as they slowly got overwhelmed as more and more cult members flooded out of their hidings, as if all the members of the cult all over the territory and other countries had suddenly gathered and emerged in front of them, juts their numbers alone could reach about 280 cult members in total. even though the number of enemies had reach that height, they still somehow felt that that number is just the tip of the iceberg for their organization as a whole.

Sensing no sense at all to having a stalemate in this kind of place with enemies flooding in the area with their sheer numbers, the General of the military's army then called out to captain Kalego as he shouted out his own assumption

"If we drew this out, it will be stalemate for both sides, we cant afford that since it will exhaust us.."

"I agree! We need to breakthrough their ranks and go deeper towards the forested area, if my assumptions is right then their base must be beyond those thick trees" analyzed Captain Kalego

"Alright! I'll lead the charge! You prepare your men to spearhead towards their base" said by the General

"Understood!"

After that short exchange the general of the army then turned to his soldiers as he called out an order with his deep voice.

"Calvary forward! footmen to the sides and rear! Were gonna spearhead through the trees... Charge!!!"

With that shout the whole army begun moving forwards as the general of the army led the attack beyond the trees. Upon seeing the army move, Captain Kalego himselfalso begun directing his own men.

"Follow the charging unit! Quickly!!!"

With those orders everyone quickly took down their opponents as they immediately followed the charge. Even Shun himself quickly took out his opponent by giving it a hard kick on its chest before following behind Mordred who brutally cut through the opponents in front of her. Much can also be said to Akito who simply dodged the opponents strike before knocking it out unconscious.

"Everyone! Follow me!" called out by merlin as he blasted a cult member intercepting his way with with a torrent of beam from the tip of his staff

"Get a move on!" shouted Lionel as he pummeled down two cult members after destroying their magic

As everyone moved forward, they somehow got accustomed to numerous interception from the side as they either dealt with it or avoid such confrontation. However due to the mere strength of the elite force of the kingdom and the spearhead cavalry unit which firstly disrupted the ranks of the enemies, the rest were then able to easily bypass the wood behind them and came before a huge mountain cave scenery.

Naturally upon arriving in such place, even more number of the Diabolos cult members emerged from different area of the mountain cave as they begun engaging the arriving army in battle. With such intensity of the battle unfolding before them, even some officers of the cult joined in the confrontation with an intent to completely wipe the small army out.

Upon seeing the torrent of magic approaching in front of them with an intent to destroy them all, the General then gave out an order towards his units simultaneously to the time that Captain Kalego ordered his own forces

"Evasive maneuvers! Cavalry spread out! Don't let the attacks hit you!... Frontlines Shield up! Mages cast barrier and defensive buffs towards the people at the front!!!" called out by the General

"Take cover! Find the perfect timing to send out a counter attack! lessen the pressure from our soldiers!" called out by Captain Kalego

Under their command, everyone moved out by their leaders orders as the battle got stuck once more at the foot of the mountain. Even Shun and Akito himself quickly took cover behind a dirt pile together with the rest of their acquaintance. the only person whop was able to counter attack in such a long ranged situation itself was Merlin himself.

In contrast to the army's and elite force unilateral orders, the members of the cult on the other gave out orders towards their lower ranking members based on a situational circumstances.

"They are taking cover behind the dirt!"

"Take them down before they get to their cover!"

"Take out those people who are shooting back at us!"

"Rain them down with spells so that they wont be able to counter back!"

"Pincer them to the side!"

"Block all their exits! they're gonna die in this place"

"Use a wide area spell to destroy them!"

Under the rain fire of the Diabolos cult, more and more people and soldiers are being taken out as the battel goes on. Even Merlin himself quickly tucked down his head when the intensity of the enemies attacks got higher.

"God damn! they are literally relentless!" said Merlin as he heard an explosion landing near their area

"Didn't you have a long ranged spell?" asks Akito towards Shun as he tightly tucked down when an explosion blew up the dirt behind his cover

"I do! but it will expose all of my body" said Shun as he shouted back from the series of explosion

"Those cowards! they should fight like a man and engage me in close combat!" commented Lionel behind his cover

"I don't think that's how real battle works" retorted Diva as she got her hair disheveled from the explosion

While they were talking behind their own cover, Mordred then immedietaley noticed the formation of a huge magic circle above them as she quickly shouted olut jher worry towards everyone in the area.

"Huge magic incoming!!!"

Upon seeing the magic circle above them, Shun couldn't help but curse at it

"Shit!"
