I woke up to the sound of birds chirping. The most beautiful sound I've heard in the last couple weeks, to be honest. I mean, after hearing screams and gasps of shock and horror when you kill possibly one of the most powerful people on Earth is pretty scarring.
I walk out of the cave, stretching. I'm in my human form, which I find odd. I don't remember switching.... Or was I shifted before I fell asleep? I have no idea, all I know is I had nightmares dancing around my head all night long.
Speaking of nightmares, what was I going to do now? My whole life had fallen apart. I thought I was on my way to do something great, but now... Nothing. I was standing in front of a cave, wondering what to do next with my life.
Maybe finding someone will help. You know, to take down whatever it is we're supposed to later, Kylie snorted.
Leave it to the genius to point out the obvious. So glad she told me, I would've never figured it out on my own.
Oh shut up! You were just complaining about how you were like a stick in the mud- stuck.
I rolled my eyes. She could be so annoying at times.
Making my way over to the stream, I take in a long gulp of water, only to realize that someone was watching me. And not out in the open either. I could tell with my enhanced sense of smell that whoever they were, they were rouge. They smelled highly of wet dog and piss.
"Come out! There's no use in running, I could smell you a mile away! And I am not afraid to give chase." My voice echoed in the small clearing, making me seem even more threatening. I liked it, that's for sure.
Me too! It makes my hackles raise, and in a good way! Kylie purrs.
Hush, now's not a goodtime, okay?
I tuned her out, putting all of my focus into whoever dared to come into my temporary home.
A low whimper was my reply, sad and weak. Whoever was here was not in the best shape, I could tell already. I could also sense a more feminine scent, so naturally I wasn't too worried. Female shifters didn't tend to be as strong as male shifters, especially when they're rouge.
But then again, I was a female shifter...
A small, and I mean extremely small wolf crept out from behind a thorn bush. She had multiple open gashes on her side and face, and was bleeding very badly.
Seeing her, such a small, fragile thing in such a gruesome state, I instantly let down my guard and rushed over to help her. No matter who she was, she was in no shape to fight me even if she really wanted to. I had to do something about it, especially knowing what type of pain she was going through. They had put me through this multiple times throughout my life.
"Oh my gosh! Don't move! Just lie down right here, I'll fix you, I promise!" I rushed out. I wasn't exactly good in these types of situations. I was only used to receiving pain, not treating it.
You can't just use our powers Kara. What if she's some type of witch, sent to kill us? We can't take any chances, not even if it's real.
I couldn't believe Kylie right now. I can't just leave her here to die! Powers or not, I was going to help. And to my wolf's dismay, it was going to be with my powers.
Don't you even-
She didn't get a chance to finish her threat before I had my hands placed on the tiny wolf's shoulders, sending a wave of heat through my body and into hers. I had never used my healing powers before, so it was a pleasant surprise when I felt a wave of tingles course through me. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy.
I wonder if this is what our mate's touch would feel like... Kylie whimpers.
I don't respond. I can't, really. I was just wondering the same thing myself. Plus, the young wolf had hopped up in an instant, bolting back to the forest.
"Wait! I'm not going to hurt you, I promise. Swear on my life, even." I had to get her to stay. There was something about her that drew me in, that called for me. I wasn't sure what that thing was, but I was going to find out one way or another!
The wolf kept running, not even slightly decreasing speed. Fine, if it's a chase she wants, it's a chase she'll get. Time to shift.
Taking a running start, I jumped and shifted in mid-air, relishing the feeling of the wind in my newly sprouted fur. It couldn't even be put into words, how great being a wolf felt. I absolutely loved it.
I could see the female shifter about a hundred yards ahead of me, dodging trees, jumping over rocks and logs. She knew this place, that's for sure.
When I was about twenty feet away from her, I pounced, landing right on top of her back. She fell to the ground with a yelp, and a grunt, me landing right next to her. I, being extremely faster than her, instantly stood up, and over her.
Shift, now, I commanded. I sounded like an alpha, maybe even more powerful. Man, these powers had some awesome perks to them!
The shifter bowed her head in submission, and shifted right under me. I was shocked, speechless. I can't even process a thing, not even Kylie is yapping like normal.
It's her... It's really her... I can't believe it's her, after so long... She's really right here...

Hello my lovelies!
Long time no type, I know. Honestly, I don't have a good excuse as to why I haven't had this uploaded sooner. I just got my laptop working, so otherwise I had been typing on my ipad, which is so tedious let me tell you! I am a grammar freak, and it is so hard to use proper grammar on an ipad without taking seventy years! So I had about half of this typed on my ipad for quite a while now, but I didn't feel like it was enough to publish, so I just saved it and left it for another day. Well, here's that other day! I finally finished it, and I hope you all enjoyed, as usual! As always, I'll see you next time my lovelies!
