Senior year is the most important milestone every person goes through, that's when you graduate. What comes with graduation?
Prom.
A night out in the finest hotel with students dancing around in the hall, wearing their best dresses and suits.
Unlike the expectations of being all lovely with your prom date, an individual was seen dreading this whole last dance as the night advances. People were drunk and high from intoxication provided by the jocks of the school.
The guy leans into her ear. "Should we head back?" Hyunjin whispers. Minju glanced at him.
"It'll be way more fun compared to this boring old dance."
He's one of the popular guys in this school. Notably, someone who is wanted by every girl in the school. To be fair, Minju liked the tranquil atmosphere other than people kissing at every corner, going off under the hazy light.
Hyunjin takes her by the wrist, stumbling a little. "You sure you can walk?" Minju looks at the guy who nodded vaguely as they entered the lift.
"I'm fine." He was clearly high. "My friends are still down there though." Minju looks at the guy who gently collided their lips together, leaning his body against hers.
His thumb strokes her cheekbone, wanting her to reciprocate the action.
Frankly, she didn't like him and couldn't kiss him back. Minju softly pushes him away and held onto his shoulder.
"Thank you for giving me a chance." Hyunjin sleepily spoke, smiling daintily as Minju supported him out of the lift, into their allocated room.
She heaves him onto the bed and heard a soft groan. He fell into a deep slumber almost instantly, contradicting the potential fun he hinted to Minju.
She decided to get out of this painstakingly tight, one-piece, white dress that her mother made her wear. Those that show off curves at the right places with exposed shoulders. And the heels.
She took a quick shower—a long one to get her mind off things. Taking advantage of the bathtub that she spent a good twenty minutes in, she thought about everything she has went through.
But her mind was only filled with someone that was out of her reach.
A girl. A schoolmate.
Someone she has never talked to.
She wonders why and only concluded not having any guts to go near her. Unlike two of her close friends who are out of the closet, she's still busy chilling in there.
And that left her with a miserable prom with someone she barely knew.
The girl puts on an oversized hoodie along with a pair of loose sweats, not caring how she looked as she ties her hair into a messy bun.
With a mind still trying to get itself together from little alcohol (she's a light drinker), she decides to head out to the rooftop pool.
Minju shoves her hands into her pockets with the sounds of bedroom slippers sweeping past the floor. Trying to stop the world from spinning, she rubs her eyes, yelping softly when she bumped into someone.
"I'm so sor—" she looks up to see a girl.
Specifically, Ahn Yujin.
The popular girl that defies the odds of being one. Unlike those mean, stuck up bitches who want nothing but attention, she's different.
At least to Minju.
One thing that caught her off guard was how Yujin was holding onto a packet of cigarettes. She never thought of her as someone who smokes. Minju stepped aside, allowing her to pass.
