The breach had finally been sealed. There were still rifts and demons around, but this was seen as a large feat. People danced, drank, music was played, everyone except Evelynn. .. While everyone else was partying, she was overlooking them all, a look of unease and discontent on her pale face, feeling the cold air kiss at her skin. She could hear the crunching of snow behind her, followed with a gentle hand on her hip.

" You know, everyone is down there celebrating. Except you, now why is that?" Varric spoke up, and she simply brought her gaze down to look at him. " Its too soon to celebrate, we need to stay on our guard." She was tense, there was the awful feeling. It was in her body, the tensing of muscle which held her form ridged and tense. Even the comforting hand of her lover did little to relax her, her folded arms tightening against her chest.  " Something isn't right Varric. I can't shake the feeling there's more to this."  She shook her head, feeling his hand give her a comforting squeeze, and she let him pull her so that she leaned against him.

" Why don't you and I go get a drink, we can warm up by the fire, get you to relax for once." He encouraged her, giving her a slight pull, to which she smiled softly, " You know, maybe that isn't a.."  She was about to turn and go with him, but then her face turned into that of concern and confusion, seeing the glowing lights off in the distance. There were hundreds, it seemed to be a full scale invasion coming.

" Look! There, off in the distance!" She pointed, when he looked and saw his expression hardened, " Oh shit, looks like we're about to be ass deep in trouble!" They each shouted, alerting the folk around to the impending doom that would soon reach them, the crowd gasped and yelled, murmured and guards, soldiers, everyone was in a full swing reaction to these unwelcomed invaders. Soon enough, demons were invading, buildings were burning, people were screaming as they either ran or fought for their lives. It seemed no matter how many slashes or blades, bursts of magic and fire, or even the shots of Bianca were fired, it took everything and so much more to put a handful down only to have more swarm in through various places their defenses had been destroyed.

" Varric, go with Bull and Cassandra, Go follow Chancellor Roderick, I need you all to protect as many of these people as you can! She called out, seeing him several feet away with a newly put down demon at his feet. Red Lirium protruding out of its body.

" They have plenty of protection, you need-"

" I SAID GO WITH THEM, THATS AN ORDER!"

Despite his protest, her voice seemingly boomed, a fury bright in her eyes and spurring away at his defiance. Her face was hardened, but it softened slightly, " I'll catch up, just go!"  Varric hesitated at first, looking unsure but he gave a nod of his head, looking at her for a moment before he turned to follow the order she had given him.

She turned her focus back to the fight, everything seemed to be nothing but fire and smoke to her. She could smell the burning embers of the homes and business around her, the fall of many around her, she recalled nothing but the singe of burning fabric, her staff was hot in her hand and the other held a glowing mark, which warmed and lit up all her nerves. Finally, she could hear the call of that winged demon.. and that horrifying, crystallized man. He seemed old, his skin was practically covered in the deadly crystal of red lirium, the stuff of her lover's nightmares. He was a demon, and his name was Corypheus.  She could recall the grit of her teeth, the anger of his words, spitting upon her in such poisonous venom. He was strong, and exerted his power over her, dangling her by the wrist as he tried and failed to strip her mark away, a strange orb held in the palm of his other hand, held for her to see.

The force in which he casted her aside earned a yell of pain from her, the force making her hit and fall against the large wooden and metal ballista. She felt the wind knocked from her lungs, watching him with a frayed look in her eyes. If it had not been for his incessant talking and a spare blade nearby, she would have perished right then and there.

She escaped with her life, but the next few hours were more of a blur of time than the battle of Haven itself, she spent hours walking through snow that reached almost up to her knees. It was constantly falling and each breath felt like a dagger stabbing her in the back of the throat. By time it was dark, she felt too light headed to go on. Everything was cold and stiff, she heard voices call and saw lights right before her eyelids became too heavy and she let the elements put her to rest.

When she woke up, she felt sore. Her back felt like it had been bruised, and she was incredibly tired. But, she was warm and could feel the soft covers of warm fur over her, clearly she had been wrapped and handled with care. Slowly, she woke up more, and she could soon feel the soft touch on her head. A hand was carefully running through her blonde locks and when her eyes finally opened, she turned her head and saw Varric. He looked tired, his hair had fallen loose from its tie, and his clothes seemed to be stained with soot and dirt, but thankfully, not much blood. Seeing her awake, he smiled tiredly, relieved to see her awake and well.

" You should rest, I wouldn't try to get up yet.. You've been through enough."  He spoke softly, his voice sounding rougher than it usually did. He leaned and pressed a warm kiss to her temple, to which she gave a deep sigh, it felt far more comforting than anything else right now. When he pulled away, she gave a hum of discontentment. He got up from the stool he had been sitting on, putting it away before he carefully sat beside her, leaning till he laid on his side, his head resting against her stomach. She pulled an arm carefully out of the covers to rest her hand on his head, gently combing her fingers through his messy hair, she was already trying to fight against the urge to sleep. But he looked up at her and could see her fighting still, " Go back to sleep, I'll still be here when you wake up. I promise."

Right before her eyes closed again, he could see her irises. No longer were they blue sapphires, but held that fade green color. The same as her mark.

"  Your eyes Harold, they've changed."  Although she was asleep, he still whispered it, concern laced in his tone. Holding on just a bit tighter, afraid and worried as to what everything was turning to.
