So far, everything had been a lot of effort to get used to. One minute she's a free mage who escaped with her life, the next, she's the supposed " Herald of Andraste", much to her distaste of it. She was certainly no herald, and she was most definitely not someone who was used to being surrounded by non-mages who didn't intend to watch her every move like a hawk. Solas being only a tad easier to be around, but that didn't mean she liked him anymore than the others. Solas as she had quickly learned was often very observant. He was a hard study, seemingly always having some logical explanation for just about any question. Usually with magic, history or even about the demons that fell from the rifts. Cassandra was of royal blood, but that wasn't what bothered her. She was too desperate, needing an immediate resolve, someone she could point the finger to and blame. She lacked self confidence in her decisions, another thing she wasn't fond of. Finally, that left the dwarf.. Varric Tethras. "Rogue , storyteller and occasionally, unwanted tagalong."

It was hard to forget, given that's how he introduced himself, winking and grinning like he hadn't just killed a demon two minutes prior. He was fond of his crossbow, 'Bianca', is what he called it. Like Solas, he was observant himself, big difference was he didn't keep his mouth shut about it.

He had even called it out once, asking how she was once he noticed Cassandra was out of earshot. She wished she had told him to mind his own business, or lied, but to her own surprise, she was at least somewhat honest.  " I can barely keep up." She said, " I almost died, have a strange mark on my hand, and now I'm the leader of an inquisition. " She had spoken before she could stop herself. She looked at him, and she saw a look of sympathy on his rugged face, a soft sympathetic smile tugging on that face of his. It wasn't what she had expected. She was used to more cold expressions, maybe even a cruel sneer. But no, he had been far more understanding in that moment than anyone had been about this whole ordeal. It was.. Not what she was used to.. but it struck a cord in her, and every since then she'd been far more comfortable with his company than anyone else. Less quick to snap towards him. There were things she didn't understand about him, things she wasn't usually so tolerant of. But Varric, he seemed to be the exception to all of that. Even if she found him far more nosey or smart mouthed than what was good for him. Charming fellow, wasn't he?

" Evelynn, why are you glaring at that fire like it killed your parents?" She turned her head away from the campfire, looking from where she sat towards the playful tone. Course, that damned dwarf. " Hmp."  He chuckled, his arms folded over his barrel chest. With her sitting and him on his feet, they were almost eye level. " I don't know Varric, did you just seal a rift and need a minute to breath?" She asked back, clear sarcasm in her voice. He just shook his head, grinning all the while. " You know, i can't talk to you if you just want to sit and pout." She gave a half assed roll of her eyes, motioning for him to sit beside her. " What do you have to say then, got another story under your belt you feel like sharing?"

"Maybe." He said as he carefully had a seat beside her, crossing his legs and making himself comfortable. " Or, Maybe I'm just tired of watching you glare and snap at every little thing."  The look he got was no less than what he expected, a harsh glare from a set of icy blue eyes, a scowl on her pale face, and with her brows furrowed in frustration. " Bite me."

He chuckled, shaking his head, " Your gonna have to try harder than that to scare me, iv written about scarier faces than yours." He was thoroughly enjoying this, " Come on, it'll be easier to get me off your ass once iv cheered up yours. So help us both out here." He had a point, even if she didn't want to admit it. But a part of her almost thought about not complying, to see if he'd get fed up and leave her be. " Alright, alright. So, what can i do to entertain my favorite nuisance?" She asked, flashing him a half grin, playing the game if only to amuse him for a moment.

" Well for starters, you could start by telling me a little bit about yourself."

   "And why that in particular?"

" Didn't you ask me about myself back in Haven?"

fuck..

" Very well, suppose if that's fair to you. "

" Now we're getting somewhere. So, why not start off with basics, i heard your from house Trevelyan, that true?"

" Yes, although, my time in the house was short lived, didn't exactly get to stay to enjoy the riches. Magic and all.. " She grinned, motioning a hand up that did a few spin motions in the air beside her before a ball of fire appeared, flicking it into the fire.

" Awe, upset you didn't get to look down your nose at people?" she sneered at him, " Only when i look at you, you little shit."

He laughed, his shoulders bouncing a tad, " Alright, struck a nerve then. One more, then ill leave you be." She scoffed, blowing some strands of her platinum blonde hair out of her face. " One more, that's the deal."

" Your cruel, but i can spot favoritism from a mile away. You got a thing for dwarves or smartasses or something?" His answer came in the form of her angrily getting up, and storming off with a huff. " Good talking Herald!" He called after her, she didn't even turn to look behind her, simply choosing to flip him the bird. Written on her face and hidden from him was the look of a scorned woman. She was angry and embarrassed, but somewhere in the back of her mind was a small piece of her that tried to tell her he may have been right. She hardly would think to acknowledge it.
