CHAPTER #32

Maryam auntie and asad uncle welcomed us grandly. We sat with them for a while and had a nice talk.
Our condition seemed to bad, I guess that maryam auntie send us off to the room to have rest.

"I'll send the lunch to your room itself, have it and take some rest"

"my ammi" he hugged her mother and that somehow warmed my heart. I wished I had my mother here as well.

He sat silently near the footboard of the bed. He looked sad and worried
"are you ok?" I asked him

"yeah" he said "just that inayah is getting married in a few days, that makes me sad"

"what's there to be sad?"

"my sister would be going to someone else's house as his wife and that somehow makes me sad, not because she is getting married, I am very happy for her but she'll go away from us, from me"

I listened to him with my full concentration. I didn't have a sister and I am not a brother so I was not able to relate to him but I did realize he is sad because he would be far from his sister
I sat beside him and caught his hand "its going to be alright" he looked at me, digging deep into stares.
Suddenly there was a knock on door

"come in" idrees said and I parted away from him to have some distance between us

"this is the lunch, when you are done, you just keep outside the room, I'll take it" inayah said

"alright thank you" idrees said as she left.
We had our lunch in silence..

We were so tired that we didn't even talk much.
The next day we planned to go for shopping.

"johara and I will go along with ammi, you'll bore us" inayah teased her brother

"come on, I am not that bad" he winked. I couldn't spare a giggle

"you are really really bad now shut up"

"inayahhh" auntie warned her

"sorry ammi, let's go"

"ok I'll drop you ladies" he followed us as we went to our car.

Inayah and auntie said behind while I sat beside idrees.
In no time, we were at the mall.
All of us got down.
Inayah and auntie went in the Mall. Inayah's excitement was up in clouds

"enjoy and buy something beautiful for yourself" he whispered in my ear as I was about to walk away. I looked at him and he was smiling

"should I buy something for you as well" I asked for the sake of formality

"buy a brain for inayah" we both burst into laughter

"you are a very bad brother"

"indeed I am" he winked between his laughs "the sweetest of girls have the worst brothers like me"
We laughed again "enjoy" he said for the last time and I went in

First we went in to buy the dress for inayah. We bought a beautiful red bridal dress for her which had silver embroidery on it.
I also bought a magenta gown which had dark golden work on it. It was a beautiful one I must say. I was enchanted at first sight
Auntie bought a beautiful green benarasi saree.

"we will buy shoes now" auntie said

We bought the matching sandals. The shopping was very fun. The next stop was jewelry.
We entered in this beautiful shop filled with counters of gold and diamond that our eyes sparkled because of their shine.
We chose a beautiful diamond set for inayah. It was her who decided to break the tradition of always wearing gold as a bride and wear diamond this time. I love this girl's guts!
Auntie was reluctant beforehand but I managed to convince her as I, myself loved that diamond set, not for me but for her of course
Auntie refused to buy any jewelry as she said that she already has enough jewelry of hers so I decided to buy some for me.
I bought a nice amd delicate gold chain which looked traditional and chic at the same time.

"a lot of money is spent" auntie sighed

"obviously because it's my marriage" inayah seemed to be least affected

"yeah" she smiled nonchalantly

It was evening, we called over idrees and went back to home.

A boring chapter? Don't worry there are more twisters and turns coming further in the story.
