"and I don't know where, but I'm hoping I'll find it. I'm looking for the silver lining"

He sang out of the open window as he navigated the back road that lead to his destination. He had to squint at the sudden glare of the sun as he turned, but once around the bend he saw the stranded car and it's driver. He felt a smile tug at his lips as he pulled over to park in front of the shiny black car.

The boy leaning against the hood didn't appear upset or anything more than bored as he watched Scott slide out of the truck and walk over to him.

"Car trouble?"

The smaller boy shrugged his shoulders and pushed off the car, pulling his hands back into the sleeves of his sweater. "It just kinda stopped."

"Just .... stopped? Was there a noise or did the car shake ... or..."

"Nope. Just .. stopped."

"Well, at least the view is nice." He motioned to the lake surrounded by flowers behind him.

The brunette shifted a bit and crossed his arms over his chest.

"This car looks brand new. I'm surprised you're having trouble with it. Does it make any noise when you try to start it?"

"Not really" The adorable boy chewed on his bottom lip while he shifted back and forth. Scott caught himself staring and scratched at the back of his neck.

"Do you want me to look at it before I just tow it?"

The pretty boy just shrugged his shoulders again, turning his focus to a phone he pulled from his back pocket. "Keys are still in it."

"ooookay..."

Scott popped the hood of the Mustang, trying a few things before he made a decision. "Might be a faulty starter. I'm sure it's under warranty. I can tow it over to the dealer."

The boy just watched him quietly for a second. "You seem really young to be a mechanic."

Scott laughed. "I guess. I just turned 18."

When the boy lifted the sunglasses off of his face Scott felt his heart begin to stutter just like a broken starter. He found himself staring into those gorgeous brown eyes that stared right back.

"How do I not know you?" The brunette tilted his head as he regarded Scott unashamedly.

"Different schools maybe?"

The boy seemed to think Scott's sudden awkwardness was amusing, because the bored frown had slipped upward to an adorable grin.

Scott felt his knees go a little weak at the sight.

"South."

"West Johnston." Scott confirmed.

"Are you sure we've never met before?" Those sparkling eyes narrowed as he regarded Scott. "I swear we have."

"I'm pretty sure I'd remember a beautiful face like yours."

The boy seemed to light up with a dimpled grin. "You're sweet."

He smiled and gnawed at his lip. "So, do I get a name? Or are you just going for the whole mysterious vibe.

"Oooh, I like the sound of that. I think I'll go with mysterious."

They both stood there watching one another in silence for a minute before Scott finally broke it. "I guess I should get your car up on the truck."

"Wait."

Scott raised an eyebrow.

"The sun will be setting soon. I mean... it would be a bit of a shame to waste a view like this, don't you think?"

Scott smiled, eyes never leaving that gorgeous face. "Yeah, the view is pretty perfect."

The boy giggled at the cheesy line, and the sound was so beautiful that Scott figured it was completely worth the cheese just to hear it.

"Alright, easy Casanova."

"Oooh nicknames already?" Scott grinned and the boy nudged his shoulder with his own as they took a seat in the grass side by side, leaning back against the Mustang. The setting sun made the water of the lake appear to shimmer.

Scott stared at the gorgeous boy next to him, trying to keep from pulling him into his arms.

"Enjoying the view?" brown eyes glanced over at him.

"You have no idea." He leaned in, finally dropping the act and kissing the perfect lips of his perfect boyfriend.

Mitch started giggling and broke the kiss to lay his head on his shoulder. "My hero."

Scott laughed. "I seem to remember our first conversation being way more awkward than that."

Mitch grinned. "Well, I mean look at you. Forgive me for being a little distracted the first time I laid eyes on all of that."

He laughed, wrapping his love in his arms. "Well, imagine me trying to figure out the English language the first time you looked at me."

"I know I'm breathtaking, you don't have to apologize." He joked with a laugh.

"I should have known it was you when Dad got all weird when giving me the location for the break down."

He laughed, turning to face Scott. "Your dad loves me."

"Not as much as I love you." He leaned in for another kiss. "You do realize our anniversary isn't until next Tuesday, right?"

"The anniversary of our first date is Tuesday, but one year ago today in this very spot is where my old Mustang decided to break down and my knight in rusty armor came to save me."

He nuzzled his face into Mitch's cheek. "Look at us now."

Mitch closed his eyes, lips curved in a content smile as he felt Scott's eyelashes tickle his skin. "I love you."

Scott leaned back and waited until Mitch had met his gaze. "I love you too. To the moon and back."

"You love me too much."

"No, it could never be enough."
