"So-" Stan blurted. He was laying upside down on Kyle's bed, tossing a small foam basketball in the air and catching it. Kyle sat at his desk finishing a paper for his history class. "You talk to Wendy yet?"

Kyle hummed in response not looking away from his paper. Stan just stared at him waiting for more but realized he wasn't going to get any, still he continued to stare Kyle up and down. "Can I help you with something?" Kyle glanced at him from the corner of his eye.

"What happened with you and Wendy?" Stan asked, a little over a mutter. Kyle sighed and closed his history book. Walking over to the bed and sitting down, Stan sat up to meet his level.

"I'm going to her house tomorrow after school." He said nervously. He knew Stan was the jealous type and didn't want to fight with him tonight.

"What? Why? Is it a date?" Stan asked. The panic was so apparent.

"No, it's not. She really did just want to hang out." Kyle put his hand on Stan's shoulder to reassure him. "You know I wouldn't go if it was a date."

Stan smiled and grabbed Kyle's hand from his shoulder, holding it in his lap. "I remember, you told me you'd never date Wendy back in 4th grade."

Kyle remembered that time too. Granted, that wasn't the last time he had been jealous of Kyle and Wendy being friendly with each other. Back then things were less complicated, they always had so much time to spend together. Kyle stared at Stan, taking in the other's appearance. He'd never really cared to notice the differences because they had grown up together. Thinking back to when they were younger though, he'd changed a lot in how he looked. He still wore a blue and red hat, but it was different. More of a beanie style, worn further back on his head so people could see his black hair in the front. A new brown jacket with a red hoodie underneath, the sleeves rolled up half way. It somehow matched perfectly with Stan's dark blue jeans and black converse. Kyle thought he looked amazing.

Of course Kyle had changed too. His hat never changed, though his hair was always poking out from underneath. He'd switched to a green turtle neck sweater, still wearing a green and orange jacket over it, with grey jeans and brown combat boots to match. Kyle wouldn't exactly say he was good looking, but he did get a good amount of attention for his looks. Though compared to Stan, Kyle would say he never compared to how hot his best friend looked.

"Earth to Kyle?" Kyle looked up noticing Stan staring at him with a smirk. "Dude you were checking me out for, like, a solid 5 minutes."

Kyle turned red and grabbed his pillow to hide his face. "N-no I wasn't. Shut up!" He stuttered, though it was very muffled by the pillow. Stan just laughed. "I said shut it!" Kyle launched the pillow at Stan's face, laughing too.

"Sorry, sorry. So what were you thinking about?" Stan asked, calming his laughter. He sat up and gave the pillow back to Kyle.

Kyle propped it behind him and leaned back. "Back when we were younger we were so different." Stan thought for a second then nodded in agreement. "But we're still best friends now." He watched as Stan lifted his hand to his mouth pressing the palm to his lips lightly staring directing into Kyle's eyes. 'I forgot! Has he really been holding my hand this whole time.'

Kyle's face turned red and he turned away to look down at his bedroom carpet. He felt a warm pressure on his cheek, his head was turned back by Stan's hand. "Of course we are." Stan whispered against his palm looking slightly pained.

'Don't look like that. Please.' Kyle sighed slowly slipping his hand out of Stan's and stood up from the bed. "Come on, let's go get some food." He said, still very flustered, starting to walk to the door. Stan followed like a puppy, smiling happily.

The next day went by like a flash, a little too quickly for Kyle. He had almost completely forgotten about Wendy until she showed up next to him as he swung his back pack onto his shoulder and closed his locker. Kyle jumped almost slamming back into his locker.

"Oh hey Wendy." He straightened himself out, trying to act cool but coming off more socially anxious than anything. "What's up."

Wendy frowned "Don't tell me you forgot."

"No no, I didn't." 'Lie' Kyle scratched the back of his neck and avoided eye contact.

"Hmm, you sure." Wendy smiled, eyeing him suspiciously.

"No, I did for a bit, sorry." Kyle sighed, Wendy just laughed and hooked her arm around his.

"I was joking, I'm not mad." She said walking with him out of the building. Kyle looked around and noticed all the whispers and looks they were getting, but the only one that mattered was the sad expression from his raven haired friend. Kyle just shrugged, looking just as displeased before the two exited the building and started walking to Wendy's house.

"So..."

"So?"

"This is a little awkward, but can you let go of my arm?" Kyle murmured.

Wendy quickly let go and lowered her head. "Sorry, I didn't even realize."

"No it's ok really. Just walking out of school like that, I think some people might have gotten the wrong idea." He replied, rubbing the back of his neck. 'Wait is she blushing?'

"Oh my god, I didn't even think about that! Geez I feel like an idiot." Wendy covered her face with a slight panic in her tone. Her vision was being covered by her finger tips but she could hear Kyle failing a stifle a laugh. As she uncovered her eyes and lifted her head, she saw Kyle as he fully burst into laughter. "What?"

"It's just funny hearing you, Wendy Testaburger, second smartest kid in school, call yourself an idiot." He replied calming down from his laughter.

Wendy smiled and huffed. "Hey what do you mean second? I believe that title belongs to you." She snickered, Kyle just chuckled and rolled his eyes.

"Come on, let's go study." He started walking again, this time much less awkward and a lot more talking.
