"Okay, now will someone tell us what the hell is going on over here?" Tony exclaimed.
[Tony's POV]
They've only met these other superheroes for about ten minutes, and Tony was already confused. Too much was happening at once for him to keep up.
The scary-looking kid, Nico, glared at him from his spot on the couch.
Clint sighed, holding his nose since it had started bleeding from the punch Will gave. "It's a long story," he groaned tiredly.
"We have time," Steve replied, also wanting an explanation
Bruce stepped forward, handing Clint an ice pack for his nose. "How about we all just sit and calm down for a bit, first," Bruce said. Everyone agreed, taking seats on the couches that were arranged in an incomplete square. The Avengers stuck next to each other while Ladybug and Chat Noir awkwardly took a seat next to Nico and Will.
After a few minutes of awkward silence, Will finally stood up, grumbling under his breath. He approached Clint, making about half the room stand up, ready to stop him if he tried anything else. Natasha was especially alert, holding her fists at the ready.
"Chill, I'm not gonna do anything," Will mumbled just loudly enough for them to hear him. He stood before Clint and put his hand over his injured face, hovering over it. He closed his eyes and began to mutter something in another language. When he lifted his hand, he looked down and said, "I didn't do that because I forgive you. I just figure that this meeting is important, and you should be paying attention to it without thinking about the pain."
Clint nodded, not meeting his eyes. Tony looked over at Clint's face and gasped, asking, "How did you do that?"
All the bruising and swelling had left his face completely, and he looked healthier than ever. "Healing powers," was all Will replied before returning to his seat. "Now, shouldn't we get started? We're supposed to be discussing the fate of the world or whatever, right?" Will asked numbly. He clearly didn't want to be here anymore but made no move to leave.
Tony had to hand it to the kid: he was definitely more mature than him.
"So...are we not getting an explanation?" Tony asked slightly impatiently. He hated not knowing things.
Clint touched his face where the bruises had been, "Will is my brother. Well, half-brother. We have the same dad. We lived together with some other siblings before I...left."
"More siblings? You've never told us about that," Bruce said.
"Yeah, well, dear old dad likes getting around. It wouldn't make much difference if you knew about my siblings or didn't."
"Why'd you leave?" Natasha asked.
"Like I said, long story," he replied.
Tony felt his frustration grow, getting the feeling that Clint wasn't going to answer their questions properly.
"How many siblings do you have?" Bruce asked.
"I..." Clint trailed off.
"Five, not including me," Will replied coldly.
"Five...? Who...?" Clint asked desperately. Tony couldn't make heads or tails of what was happening. Was five a bad number or something?
"Lee and Michael," Will replied coldly, avoiding eye contact.
"Oh...Will..." Clint mumbled, clearly shocked.
Will didn't reply.
"Now that we had that lovely conversation, shall we get to work now?" Nico asked, glaring at everyone to dare defy him.
"Well, aren't you a ray of sunshine," Tony noted, not liking the tone of this kid's voice.
Nico ignored him and said, "Will and I haven't really been in touch with the rest of the world lately. Mind filling us in on what's been going on and who this 'villain' is?" Nico used finger-quotes when he said the word 'villain', as if he didn't acknowledge them as a big threat, Tony noted.
[Nico POV]
Nico decided to change the conversation to move everyone's attention off Will since he was obviously uncomfortable. Of course he would be, though, his brother, a traitor, is alive after being presumed dead for so long. Plus, he had to be reunited with him in a room full of people who were clearly close with him. Not the ideal circumstances.
[Chat Noir's POV]
Ladybug filled the room in on what's been happening in Paris, keeping the parts that they don't need to know about a secret, such as the kwamis. Speaking of the kwamis, Adrien wondered how Pollen was doing and if he knew anything about Hawk Moth's whereabouts. That information could be vital to them, but he knew he shouldn't mention it in a room full of people they just met. He would have to wait to be alone with Ladybug before pointing it out.
After she finished the others took in the information, processing everything.
"By the way, are the two of you going to stay in your suits the whole time?" Steve asked, breaking the silence.
Ladybug froze. Chat Noir knew what she was thinking immediately, of course. If they take the suits off, their identities will be liable to be exposed. They just met these people, who's to say they won't be targeted by Hawkmoth and become akumatized?
As much as he would love to see who his lady truly was, after all the Miraculous got taken, Adrien had a massive wake-up call. They were currently the only two heroes left from their team. If anything happened to them, everyone would be in danger.
Ladybug glanced at Chat Noir. He figured that she would be feeling sorry to him since she knew how much he wanted to see her without the mask. Chat Noir smiled at her comfortingly and directed his gaze back to the the others, then said, "As much as I would love to, I'm afraid my face is far too beautiful to just be exposed like that. You wouldn't be able to handle my beauty, so for everyone's sakes, I'm afraid we'll have to keep our masks on."
"Besides," he continued, speaking seriously now, "we can't afford to take any more risks than we already have. Paris is counting on us to keep them safe, and we can't do that if our identities get exposed to Hawkmoth."
[Ladybug's POV]
Ladybug looked at him in shock. Since when has that silly cat taken things so seriously like this? And he didn't jump at the chance to seeing her face like she thought he would. I haven't been giving him as much credit as he deserves, Ladybug thought, heart feeling warm.
"Yeah, we're sorry, but there's too much riding on it," Ladybug continued.
The others nodded before Spiderman asked, "Wait, you don't even know each other's identities?"
"No, it's safer that way. Since I know the identity of the other Miraculous holders, if anything happened to me, they would most likely be captured and Chat Noir would be the only one who could fix everything. If either of us got akumatized and knew the other's identity, everything would be over." Ladybug explained, thinking about her nightmares of Chat Blanc. He knew her identity and it led to the destruction of the world. He said that their love led to the destruction of the world.
She squeezed her hand nervously. How could she allow herself to be with him if she was the reason he'd gotten akumatized? Surely that would be too selfish of her. She cared for him too much to let him end up like that again. No, she would keep her feelings locked away, at least until Hawkmoth was no longer a threat.
"Like I said, too much rides on our identities for anyone to find out about them," Ladybug finished.
"Aw~ bugaboo, I didn't know you depended on me so much," Chat Noir cooed, poking her cheek. Ladybug swatted his hand away and playfully glared at him.
"So, what's your plan on getting the Miraculous back?" Steve asked.
