Hi guys! I apologise for being all depressing in that last chapter but I'm going to have to be depressing in this chapter as well :( I'll try to be a little more cheerful in the rest of the book, but Keefe just ran away, so it's not the sort of moment that's meant to be full of rainbows and butterflies ;) Anyway, I apologize in advance. Sophie POV:

The note slipped out of my grasp. I watched it float gently down before it lay flat on the ground. I blinked hard and imagined that it was my life. 

I think that I was in that moment just before a delayed reaction.

I blinked one more time. That was when I started screaming.

Definitely a delayed reaction. 

I sank to my knees sobbing, picking up the note and cradling it against my heart. Edaline ran into my room and dropped down beside me.

"Sophie! Sweetheart look at me! What happened?"

I sank into her arms and she pulled the note out from in between us. Her brow furrowed as she read the note, gasping as she got to the heart breaking part.

"Sophie darling! Oh my goodness! It's okay it's going to be okay." Edaline looked as if she was about to start crying herself. She tightened her grip around Sophie.

"Grady!" She hollered. "Get over here right now!"

Grady stumbled in with Mr Forkle just after they had been talking about Sophie burning down the Neverseen's hideout. 

Grady faced Edaline, looking flustered.

"Eda I was talking to- oh!"

Edaline passed him the note. Sophie was shocked to see that he didn't even look surprised, he just passed the note to Mr Forkle and leaned against the wall, his eyes full of concern. 

Sophie buried her face into Edaline as the whole of team valiant (except for Dex, you'll find out why later *smirk*), Fitz, Tam and Linh came in. Biana flopped down onto her knees beside Sophie and Edaline.

"Omg what happened Sophie, Sophie, Sophie!" She cried.

Mr Forkle cleared his throat.

"It seems that Mr Sencen is experiencing some mental difficulties at the moment."

I coughed. "Experiencing mental difficulties" should win under exaggeration of the year.

Biana took the note and the rest read over her shoulder. 

I was only half listening to Biana freak out and Mr Forkle discuss strategies, but I heard Grady tell them that Keefe had used a blue leaping crystal. I lifted my head, snapping out of the trance.

"Wait! How do you know what colour his leaping crystal was?"  

Grady chewed his lip.

"I- I caught Keefe leaving the note" He muttered miserably.

I couldn't believe it. I glared at him.

"What, did you have a good old chat about the whole thing? Why on earth didn't you stop him?" I snapped.

Grady shrank back.

"I...couldn't!"

"Right!" I growled. "Because it's not like your a MESMER OR ANYTHING!" I was shrieking by then. Edaline put a hand on my shoulder but I shook it off."

Grady was backing away but I wasn't letting him go that easily. I stood up, slowly stepping towards him, shaking with anger. Fitz stepped in front of me and reached out grab my hand.

"Sophie! Calm down!" 

I recoiled, flinching and hissing "Don't touch me!" He didn't get to be so calm and make me behave like a good little girl, not after all the random, pointless temper tantrums that HE threw literally every day.  

Fitz stared at me, shocked. Ha! He doesn't like it when I'M the one that's angry, does he? How ironic! 

Mr Forkle cleared his throat. 

"I'll hail the councillors and..."

"FORGET THE COUNCILLORS!" I screamed. "THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING! THEY. NEVER. DO. ANYTHING."

I tore my circlet off my head, ripping out hair in the process, and threw it onto the ground before I stomped down hard on it, shattering it.

There was silence as everyone stared at the broken circlet shards on the floor.

I closed my eyes, not caring about what I had just done, only really caring about one thing.

"He's g-gone!"

That was when I threw up.
