When the police and the ambulance arrived, they checked the backyard in case the dog was still back there, but they found nothing.

As for the paramedics, they quickly treated Namjoon's wound, but he refused to go to the hospital, so they did all they could here.

I don't know why he was so stubborn and didn't go get treated with the proper equipment they needed, but I didn't ask because I didn't want him yelling at me. Plus, it wasn't my place to tell him what to do anyway.

It's only twenty minutes later when the police and paramedics leave that he comes upstairs and knocks on my door. However, I already heard them moving something downstairs, which I can only assume is something to block the doggy door.

I'm sitting on my bed, lost in thought when the door opens and Namjoon walks inside. His arm is wrapped up securely when he comes over and sits down on the bed. He glances at my bandage which I removed and tossed into the trash can.

It seems we both have a moment of realizing how intense these past few days have been.

"Emiko," his eyes are forward when he speaks, and it's as if he's not exactly sure what to say. "We have a problem," he explains, eyes cast toward his arm. "My father's been arrested,"

I feel my heart stop. My eyes widen as I turn to him.

"What? Why?" I can't think properly. We saw him a few hours before.

"I don't know. I only listened to it for a few seconds, but I thought you should hear it. I guess he called earlier when everything was happening,"

After that, he pulls out his phone and presses his voicemail underneath his father's name.

"Namjoon, you need to get Emiko out of the house. I was arrested earlier at the office for treason against Japan."

We each look at one another with upsetting glances.

"I don't know what's wrong with these people, but you need to get out of the house as soon as you can. I only have one phone call left, and I'll call you when I hear any news. For now, go into my room, take out the emergency cash from the safe and take the gun with you-protect yourself. Tell Emiko that I'm sorry this is happening to her. And son, I love you-"

"Your call's up-"

The hateful tone of a police officer hangs up the phone instantly.

Namjoon looks away as if in disbelief at the whole situation. "The world has gone insane."

After packing two backpacks with the money and gun inside, we decided it was time to leave. His backpack is full of cash and the weapon, while mine is full of food and water. I don't know what our plan is, but for now, we need to be somewhere safe.

I walk to the front windows, gently peeking outside where I see no one in sight. The street is empty, and none of Namjoon's neighbors have a single light on.

"We have to go, Emiko," he comes next to me, peeking over my head out of the window, too.

"Are we sure about this? I mean, no one is here. I don't think anyone suspects us." I ask, but he shakes his head.
