There's a moment of absolute silence, and then a moment of realization. I already know what I have to do.

"I have to choose him." The words die on my tongue, quietly falling away into the echoing silence in the cracks of the walls. "Jungkook is the key to ending this. Does he remember? Help me understand."

He backs away and sits down on the couch while I hold the blanket close to my chest as I wait.

"He's not your cousin, Emiko. It's always been a lie. Your parents... they aren't your parents. They are part of Jungkook's army, and he assigned them to act as your parents. He wanted you by his side in this life. You see... you and Namjoon... are reborn every time you die. Right where the previous body dies, moments later you shift back to a newborn baby with your memories erased." He explains.

"Yuko and I have been pushed back to the sidelines to watch our lifetimes fail one after the other but this time, it was so different it brought me and Yuko out of the shadows."

"In our last lives, we died separately never meeting each other in that life. Jungkook knew where you would die because he found you and killed you, so he took you. Jungkook hasn't been reborn. He's stayed the same for ages. He's got so much power here it's frightening." There's so much to understand and learn, but we don't have the time for it.

"Can you bring Namjoon back? We need to fix this and end it." He nods while I stand, gathering the blanket around me before heading upstairs to change. "I'm done being terrified."

A few days went by, and it's been difficult. Namjoon understood when I told him what I had learned. He had dreams, too, and what I explained made sense to him. At least, he believed me and that's all I needed.

We left, stole a new, different car, and drove back to Tokyo. We drove straight there without any stops and made sure we kept our eyes straight the whole ride. We didn't remove the sunglasses and didn't stare at anyone. The last thing we needed was to be captured before this could be settled.

I was sure as well as Namjoon that after we figured this out everything would go back to normal. However, this was still so much to understand, to learn, that I wasn't even sure what I was doing was right or if there could ever possibly be a normal after this. I even considered the possibility that Namjoon and I were driven insane by the way we've been wrongly accused.

Still, I insisted we get back and head to Jungkook's place. Somehow, even without me fully knowing everything, it felt true. There was always something different about him I could never place, but I shrugged it off. I thought I could trust him since he was my family, but even then that's a stupid thought to have because family doesn't always mean protection... it can mean pain, and a lot of it if living under the same roof.

We arrive at night in the pouring rain. Namjoon parks the car on the side of the road, pulls a black hood over his head, and jumps out of the car where he jogs across the road to the house.

He stands still in the heavy rain, which is hard to see out of the front windshield, but eventually, he's running back to the car and hoping inside. Shutting the door, he hands a note to me while removing the soaked hoodie and tossing it in the back of the car.
