Laying flat on her back on her bed, (Y/N)'s eyes wandered around her dim ceiling. On the outside, she looked rather tired. Her mind, however, didn't want to stray away from what she and Ryuga had discussed in the library. She didn't regret declining his offer, and she decided to ignore the gut feeling that she was making some sort of mistake. She didn't want to engage with the Kira case, and she definitely didn't want to engage with the person who claimed to be L. While everyone else gossiped about the case like teenagers, (Y/N) appeared to be the only one who didn't care. Kira didn't have enough importance to her for her to be focusing on it all the time.

In his dorm room, with the curtains drawn, Light kept glancing at the drawer he had hidden the Death Note inside. His arms were crossed while he stood in the middle of the darkened bedroom. Ryuk, who was on the other side of the room, was munching on apples rather loudly and slightly getting on Light's nerves. He ignored the annoying Shinigami and proceeded to stare into space.

Things are going perfectly. I've exposed of almost everyone who's ever laid a finger on (Y/N), and she can finally live like a human being and not a punching bag. I still don't understand why anyone would want to harm her. She wouldn't hurt a fly, so what's it about her thats so tempting for physical abuse?

"Why does everyone hate you?" He accidentally mumbled aloud.

Ryuk heard him and swallowed his juicy snack and wiped his lips dry with his wrist. "Hey, Light." Light turned to Ryuk with irritation spread in his concentrated features. "What is it now, Ryuk?" He asked with annoyance. Ryuk was numb to Light's attitude already, so it didn't faze him. "Did I ever tell you about a Shinigami named Gook?" His gruff voice asked the brunette. The brown pair of eyes glinted slightly with curious intrigue. "No, you haven't. Who is he?" Ryuk cleared his throat rather loudly and sat down on Light's bed.

"Well, he was kind of like a friend of mine. I remember he was horrible at gambling." He chuckled.

"Damn it!"

"Wow, Gook! You seem to get worse every day!" One of the Shinigami shouted cockily while pointing a bony finger in Gook's face. Gook tossed his cards forward in anger. "I get it, Daril! You don't have to keep telling me." He grumbled saltily under his breath as he walked away from the gambling spot. He wandered around the dead realm with his arms slumped by his sides and irritation with Daril flowing through him.

He walked around and found an empty crater and sat down roughly, his exposed bones rattling loudly against each other. He decided to pay a little look at the human realm. Now that he was done gambling, he had nothing better to do.

He watched as humans went about their daily lives, not caring about the good or bad intentions that followed each individual action. Ryuk was wandering around in his own boredom and found Gook sitting there. He approached him and stood behind him. "Whatcha doing, Gook?" He asked. Gook didn't turn his head and kept staring at the humans. "Daril beat me again so I have nothing to do." Ryuk laughed. "She is vicious."

He leaned forward a little over Gook's shoulder, watching the same view like a TV screen. After watching for a couple minutes, neither of them moving an inch, Gook's head rose in a realization. As he watched the human realm, he started getting curious about them. About how they operated and how their minds worked. "Ryuk?" He asked the Shinigami hovering behind him. "Yeah?" Gook hesitated for a second.

"Do you think I could make one?"

Ryuk's eyes squinted in pure confusion. "What do you mean?" He asked with a confused expression. Gook coughed slightly. "I was asking if I could make one." That didn't help Ryuk understand. "Make what, exactly?" He still couldn't exactly figure out himself what Gook wanted to 'make.'
