This appears to two separate people in separate places at the same time.
Fifty years in the future two people are contacted separately. One is a startup specialist from Stanford and the other an ambitious Berkeley graduate student from the Huichol Mountains in Mexico, whose parents are indigenous shamans in an inherited tradition. These two people have never met. At the time of contact, each of them is in a dream state while sleeping.
The purpose of contact is to start a set of projects, and a company that will drive those projects using three forms of alien magic technology: time travel, shape-shifting, and telepathy.
In each person's case, short subconscious telepathic dialogs of back-and-forth visions and words takes place, followed by their assent, followed by a download, and a long opening dream. At the end there is a synthesized voice whispering inside the head of each of them: "This will change you."
This proves true. Twenty years after the first contact date, we find them both as billionaires, and the company they founded, The Hand Of Time, is running its operations out of a massive satellite circling the earth.
