A Fire Upon The Deep by Vernor Vinge. Sci-fi story involving telepathic "canids" similar to wolves with a pack hive mind. Walked around on hind legs carrying bows and arrows. Hm.

Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Very good, very complex on insect culture and worldbuilding re a civilization of same on a distant planet who wage war on the invading humans.
