"Gosh, I wonder if he'll like it!"

"You're too loud, Chara."

I cupped my face to cover my red blush. We were in the back of the classroom, Lace, Elizabeth and Ash in front of me. Gosh, I always thought Ash was a super duper name and always made sure to tell her that. These girls always complained that I embarrassed them but my Mom told me I shouldn't change and that I was an angel that had a pure heart.

I sneezed a few times during class, and that was probably the most eventful thing I did during that period! I always struggled to keep track of things when I could rather daydream of other stuff, like being a superhero or being the main character in one of those mature rom-coms from under the TV cabinet.

Thankfully, I was with the girls in front of me for most of these classes in school and so I always followed behind them and was grateful that they didn't run away from me. I didn't have many friends and most people in school weren't talkative, well, they all stuck to these small groups you see. I was a bit of a drifter though because I didn't really like the idea of being closed off from everyone else.

The problem today was that I lost these girls on the way to the lunch hall, which made me upset. The hall was very big and I had to line up in between everyone else in the queue for the school dinner. My mom used to make packed lunch for me when I was younger, but before transitioning schools they wanted me to get used to ordering food by myself, which wasn't hard so I don't get why.

Then, I heard the students behind me laughing!

"What's funny?" I looked up and asked them with a giggle.

"H-Huh?" They all hesitated to answer and just stared at me weirdly, but with my sharp eye I noticed the girl in the back staring at my hair.

Aw man... I quickly turned back around and squinted at the floor, struggling not to touch my hair. I messed up washing it in the morning, but it's not my fault because the only shampoo there was different than the one I used. I don't know what went wrong but now my hair was all poofy and bad-looking. If I wanted to give a confession to a cute guy, I couldn't be looking like this! Curses, I'll have to try fix it later...

"Oh." Before I realised, I was pushed up the queue and was already being served by the lunch lady. I didn't get to pick what was being served, but at the end the lady gave me a little wrapped chocolate candy. I looked up at her with awe. This was a kind lunch lady. Around school sometimes I would hear people gossip about her and call her mean things, especially because of the way she looks, but that wasn't right. I began to frown, this lunch lady always gives me a nice piece of chocolate and she doesn't give many other children chocolate because I'm special, and she shouldn't be talked about this way.

"You'll get wrinkles if you frown, kid."

"Oh." I bowed my head and found an empty spot at one of the lunch tables behind me. It was where the other girls from class usually sit but they weren't here today.

I sat down and began to pick at my food, until I looked up and saw this girl from another class.

"Wowie! Nice bag!" I said to her across the two benches, my voice echoing through the hall.

It took the girl a second to turn around, looking at me before looking at her bag then back to me.

"Thanks." She said, before turning around again and continuing to eat.

Her bag was really pretty and had ribbons attached to the side, as well as this smiley face badge. I felt good complimenting her bag and spreading positivity. Mom told me that it's good to spread as much positivity around the world because you don't know what people are going through when you're not around. I brought out my little notepad and jotted this event down because I'm going to go see mother after school today. I can't visit her everyday and father says he doesn't think I should but today is my allowed day so I will tell her as many stories as I can.
