I flinched when she finally looked at me with a desperate smile. "If only the princess never caught me! My terror is at an end."
I don't want to do this. It wasn't right to, not after how hard she worked for this ending.
KILL THE WITCH
Some of the audience members were out of their seats, chanting like they were in a pantomime. We went out of our way for this play and it was well received.
"Hero?"
I put my hand on the hilt of my sword, and looked once more behind the stage. Papyrus and the rest of the cast sat there with intense eyes and I felt like I had no control. I drew the sword subconsciously and waved it around to the onlookers with a fake smile. Reluctantly staring Chara down with the weapon in hand, I helplessly shrugged. Frisk strengthened the grip she had around Chara from behind: One hand running down her dress until it looked like she had no room to even breathe, and the other hand placed with a firm grasp across her jawline.
I raised my arm till the point of the sword was aimed at the poor girl's chest. The audience were cheering, the cast were getting tireless and both Frisk and Chara wore very different faces.
I closed my eyes. I'm sorry Red.
CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP
Confetti flew down and the audience started to cheer as Papyrus led the cast on stage. Frisk released her grip as she gleefully went to join them, and left the princess' sister clutching one hand on her jaw... and the other on the prop in between us.
"AND THREE CHEERS FOR ALL ZE MAGNIFICENT ACTORS AND ACTRESSES!"
We both stared at the sword poking into her chest until I threw it to the side. She looked up at me with watery eyes as I went in to hold her, but nothing fell from them. Her eyes looked a dull grey when compared to her usual shade.
"Chara! Look at the audience, they loved it! Char..."
She only stared before walking away towards the exit. "I'm done, (Y/n)."
I decided to chase after her even though I knew I shouldn't. Things are already looking bad enough and if I decide to leave her be then it'll just show that I don't even care at all. With my luck, going to her would result in a punch in the face, and letting her go would also result in a punch in the face some time later.
"(Y/n)! Where are you going? Get up here for the credits!"
I was blinded by the spotlight as Frisk and the rest of the cast came and happily squashed me in the middle of them. Papyrus continued thanking everyone, obviously not forgetting himself. I couldn't even pretend to smile amidst the happiness.
Frisk blushed, "Tonight, we are celebrating so hard! I can't believe we got such a reception from a boring play like thi-"
I broke free from everyone forcefully and looked back at her in spite. "WE are not celebrating anything Frisk. Did you just choose to ignore the state that Chara's in?"
"Oh what!" She moaned. "So she didn't get her ending, boo fucking hoo, do you see me complaining about it? NO, BECAUSE THE PLAY WAS GOOD. Really, a good actress always knows how to compromise, and improvise~"
I laughed before turning to walk down the steps. "You know I always thought you were way more mature than me Frisk, but I really have no clue who the hell you are right now. I'll talk to you later."
"Are you serious! Why don't the both of you learn to just live a little?"
I walked out the back exit and embraced the fresh air of the cold evening. Some people were already leaving as the sun began to set, and I looked out towards the distance in search of a princess.
