"No no, that was definitely a girl."

"Are you really just gonna stand there Chara."

I looked at my sis, who just pouted by the coat rack, next to the hinge of the main door.

DING DO-

I grew a little startled as I went to spy through the peephole again, sighed and immediately opened the door, happy to see the face of my best mate. "(Y/n)!" I exclaimed quietly. "Thanks for coming over..."

He smiled and greeted me warmly, handing me the schoolwork that Chara and I were sadly forced to do at some point. I'm unsure if I'll even do it.

"So, hey hey, don't think I didn't see that girl you were with, (Y/n), what are you doing, cheating!?" I poked at him.

"Huh!? N-No!"

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding." I laughed, trying to calm him down.

He stood quite firmly in place, but it seemed like he was trying to peek inside. Seeing him here after so long kinda made me emotional, and I took a step outside to give him a hug. He was still looking inside, so I joined from his perspective to see Sans and Papyrus watching TV on the sofa, whilst Undyne and Alphys were just cuddled up. It looked so warm and homely, even from my eyes.

I let go of (Y/n), taking a step back and taking his hand. "Come inside and eat something, we have some food."

He immediately changed face though, looking at me apprehensively.

"I can't. It's late anyway, I better rush back..."

I frowned and huffed, but he twitched as I tried to persuade him with my puppy dog eyes, staring right past me with awe.

"Hi (Y/n)."

From behind called out a soft voice, softer and tamer than any other time I ever heard it, like it was from a different entity entirely.

"Chara! He- Hi..."

I backed up into the side of the path, quite alert, watching the two of them face each other for the first time in a long while. Chara stood there in the warm light of the entrance, holding some bittersweet pie that had been leftover and unattended.

"We have some food... So please join me." She said timidly.

The longer she stood there, the more drained her eyes looked; her arms faltered for a second before (Y/n) went and quickly took the plate from her hands, stepping inside.

"A-Are you ok?" He asked.

"W-What? Yes..." She looked down to the floor grimly as they stood not too far apart.

Carefully, I walked back into the house and closed the door behind me. Alphys and Undyne were already up to greet (Y/n), though the brothers were too involved with their comedy show.

"Hello." Said (Y/n) shyly. Both monsters lovers greeted him as if nothing was off. Hearing food from before, they decided to take the large tray of pie that Chara had clutched to her chest tightly. My attention was then laid on her again.

"How's school (Y/n)?" Asked a happy Alphys.

"Um fine. I'm doing a few new things like track and stuff, so yeah."

Chara turned her head in interest for a split second before reverting to a neutral state a little way away, arms crossed as if she was still holding something in them.
