❝ SO I LIED TO MY MOM AND DAD, AND JUMPED THE FENCE AND I RAN ! ❞

RAIN HAS BEEN pouring nonstop ever since this morning, giving everything a sense that was gloomier than usual. Although I disliked it, there wasn't much I could do except be prepared for the muddy paths and getting drenched.
It was already dismissal yet I didn't want to leave the comfort of the classroom, not even my friend's calling me to come with them tempted me. But still, I had to leave for cram school— how I wish that just this once, I do not have to go.
As I walked out of the building towards the front gate of the school, I could hear most students talking amongst each other about the person waiting by the gate. Considering I have other matters to attend to, I let all those conversations slip past me as I strode faster.
Until a specific sentence have made me come to a slow walk.
"Why are they here? They should be back in Japan by now!" One of the girls in my class exclaimed, and being the mildly curious person that I am, I followed their line of sight.
A person close to my age was leaning against the metal gates, completely soaked under the rain with nothing but their jacket and unruly uniform covered the rest of their body. Not even a coat nor an umbrella in sight, I'm sure they'd catch a cold later on.
"Just don't walk near them."
Before I knew it, they took ahold of my wrist and forced me to share my umbrella with them, in their other hand was a dark blue lighter with a cartoon bear on it ourstretched to me.
I made a silly mistake of looking into their eyes and seeing endless galaxies in them, all seeming to be devoured by their own mouth and crushed by their hands.
"Light my cigarette." They spoke up, their hand still had a firm grip on my wrist that held the umbrella over us, their eyes not leaving mine a single second.
"Why?" I asked absentmindedly, they simply replied with a shrug but opened their mouth again to speak, "My hand is wet."
It was such a blunt answer that it seemed to convince me into doing it. Without much hesitance, I took the lighter and lit the stick in their mouth, letting my arm drop back to my side once the end of the cigarette lit up.
By now, I didn't really mind the odd whispers of the crowd anymore, I clearly remember them speeding past the stranger and I with stunned yet fearful faces. At that time, it made me curious on just what kind of reputation they had that just their name could make them go still in horror.
