STRAWBERRIES AND CIGARETTES !

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ♡︎♡︎♡︎

TODAY WAS A very gloomy Monday, the rain hasn't stopped since this morning and it seems it won't stop for the next few hours. I didn't necessarily like it but I can't exactly do anything except for bringing an umbrella with me whenever it gets drizzly and prepare for the muddy roads I'll be walking through.

I heard my name being called by one of my friends but I disregarded it, they're just going to ask me to help them with a school activity but I'm all too tired to give such kindness right now. I didn't want to go out of the class just yet — I have to attend cram school right after this, I didn't stop going even now that I'm a second year in Myeong Moon Science High. It was to be expected since I have to be at the top of my class, or else my father would be disappointed in me.

As I walked out of the building towards the front gate of my school, I couldn't help but think of this as some type of déjà vu. Most students were talking about someone waiting at the gates of my school while others were looking at me. But those things doesn't matter currently, I have more important things to attend to, I let all those conversations slip past me as I strode faster.

Until a specific sentence have made me come to a slow walk.

"Why are they here? They should be in Seoul right now!" One of my classmates have exclaimed, and I couldn't help but let my curiosity get the best of me, I followed their line of sight.

A person that looked oddly familiar was leaning against the metal gates, completely soaked under the rain with nothing but their jacket and a uniform that looked similar to mine covered the rest of their body. They were wearing a blazer above their jacket instead of a vest like mine, it seems they're from the school in Seoul.

"Just don't walk near them."

Before I knew it, they took ahold of my wrist and forced me to share my umbrella with them, a cigarette was already on their lips and the sense of familiarity washed over me again.

I made the perfect mistake of looking into their eyes and seeing endless galaxies in them, and once I saw how deep and terrifying they were, realization dawned on me.

My hand instinctively went to the dark blue lighter with a now chipped sticker of a cartoon bear on it in my pocket — a small metal keychain that looked like them and I hung from it as I pulled it out. The keychain was from the small yellow box I had along with the deflated peach balloon and white mask I had. I even have someone's childhood photo.

And with the slightest movement, I saw them smile — I saw you smile.

Your soft lips curving upwards, and it was my very first time witnessing it. You still had your bright green hair colour and green nail polish — at the corner of my eyes, I saw your green car. You looked the same as always, yet there was just something about you that made you look so different now.

Or maybe it's because I missed you so much that I forgot the little details of you I used to remember.

But at least now you're back — my [Name] is back. You smiled at me with such softness that I felt myself melt, I felt all my buried memories and feelings for you rise and we'll up.

With a twinkle in your eyes and a tear running down your face, you spoke to me at last, finally letting me hear your beautiful voice.

"Light my cigarette."
