Shut the hell up
Oh wait I hear knocking
We'll finish this later.

Jack closed his phone, rolling his eyes at the texts and walked towards the door.

"Listen Racer we don't got any more cookies," he said opening the door, however instead of a lighthearted smile, he saw Race looking thin thin holding his stomach with tears in his eyes. "Woah- what happened to you?"

"Do-" he bit his lip, "do you have any extra food?"

"Yeah, of course I do, but are you okay?"

"Can I just have a peanut butter and jelly please?" He asked him, but his eyes grazed the wood floors as he did so, studying the lines they made, anything had to be better than studying Jacks questioning eyes.

"Damn that I'm getting you a whole pizza."

Race looked up, "you don't have too."

Jack ruffled his hair, "but I am."

He quickly went into his favorites and clicked bae, Jonathan must've taken extra hours because he answered the phone. Jack had Race's pizza preference memorized and soon the pizza was on its way.

Jack sat down on the couch next to Race, they both sort of just looked out instead of each other.

"So, uh- what's going on." Jack's lame attempt at conversation started.

"Weathers nice."

"Okay."

They sat in silence after that, both somewhat cringing at their words.

The pizza joint happened to be super close, and Race only wanted cheese, so the pizza got there in less than 10 minutes. Jack was almost grateful for it, the silence beforehand was physically killing him.

Race upon seeing his own pizza, dug in immediately, eating the whole thing in seconds it seemed.

"Damn." Jack committed, "you must be hungry."

"Haven't eaten in two days."

Jack swore he almost went into cardiac arrest, his heart skipping two whole beats, coming to a chill that traveled throughout his entire body until he was in a primal instinctive freeze. The words felt heavy in his ears, his tongue growing a few pounds itself. He wanted to follow up, shake the boy, demand answers.
