When I get downstairs, I see Hope getting food too. I grab two plates, then start putting food on them. "You didn't tell her, did you?" I ask. "Tell who what?" she asks. "Josie. About your...you know" I say. She sighs, then says "No, I didn't".
"Why not?" I ask. "Because she doesn't need to know" she answers. "I mean, it's not like we're gonna be having sex or anything" she adds. "Maybe not, but she still kinda deserves to know. You're her girlfriend, remember?" I say. "Fake girlfriend" she corrects. "And that's not something I just share. You know that" she adds. "I mean, I don't see you going around, telling everyone you have a dick" she says. "I didn't say tell just anyone. We're talking about Josie" I reply.
"What about you then? Did you tell Kaylee?" she asks. "I did actually. And we're just friends" I answer. She looks down at the plate on the counter, which she was putting food on a minute ago. "What are you so scared of?" I ask. She doesn't answer me, so I move closer. "Look...if you're afraid of her not accepting you, don't be" I start. She looks at me, but let's me continue. "Josie's a nice, and accepting person. I'm sure she'll be ok with it" I finish.
Hope POV
"Tell her" Faith tells me, walking away. I sigh again, but grab our plates of food, and head up also. Josie smiles brightly when I walk in the room. I push the door closed a bit, but leave it cracked, because Caroline told us we're not allowed to close it all the way. "Thank you" she says, carefully grabbing the plate out of my hands. "Of course" I reply, getting on the bed. We're both sitting against the headboard, side to side. There's a small gap between us, which, for some reason, is bothering me.
I started to eat in silence, as did she. Though, it wasn't awkward or comfortable. It was just...silence. "Why didn't you get me one?" she asks out of nowhere. "What?" I reply. She points to something on my plate, making me look down. "Oh...I didn't know you wanted one, sorry. You can have mine if you want it" I answer, bringing my plate closer to her. I thought she was gonna take it, but instead, she only takes half. She thanks me with a sweet smile.
There goes those butterflies again. I nervously look away, and go back to eating my food. "You want some?" she asks, referring to the lo mein on her plate. "Oh, uh, no, I'm good" I answer. "You sure?" she asks. "Yea. I've never had it before, so I don't want to eat it, and not like it" I say. She stares at me like I'm crazy. She wasn't saying anything, so that just made me even more nervous. "Are you kidding me?" she asks, though, I don't think she really wants me to answer that.
"Uh...yea ?" I reply. She shakes her head in disappointment. She picks some up with her chopsticks. "Here" she says, holding it up to me. "I'm fine, really" I tell her. "Just open your mouth" she demands, giving me a stern look, though, it isn't really stern since her lips form a natural pout. She looks adorable, so I have no choice but to open my mouth. She stares into my eyes as she puts the food in my mouth. She continues to stare silently as I start chewing, waiting for my answer.
After a few seconds of chewing, I swallow the food. I tilt my head a little, deciding if I like it or not. "So...?" she says, getting impatient. "It's not bad, but...it's not for me" I tell her. With a chuckle, she says "I'll take it". I stare at her with a small smile. "What?" she asks, smiling back. "Nothing, it's just...you have a little something on your face" I answer. "Do I really?" she asks, trying to wipe it off. "Yea" I laugh. I grab her hands gently, making her stop moving.
"I'll get it" I tell her. I place my hand on her cheek, and use my thumb to get the little bit off food off her face, which is right below her lips. I pull away from her when I do. It was sweet and sour sauce, so I put my thumb into my mouth while still looking into her eyes. "T-thank you" she stutters. I give her a smile, then say "No problem". There was a knock at the door a few seconds later, and the door gets pushed open. "School starts an hour early tomorrow, so after dinner, head to bed" Caroline tell us.
Both Josie and I nod in understanding. "Also, you and your sister have start going to school, and actually having your own classes. We don't know how long you'll be here, but you can't be "just checking the school out" for the entire time" she adds. "Oh, ok" I reply. "I didn't know which uniform you'd prefer, so you can just choose your own in the morning" she tells me. I give another nod, and she leaves. "So, you're officially a 'Salvatore Stallion' now" Josie says, smiling.
I chuckle, then say "Yea, I guess so". "Can I choose your uniform?" she asks. "Why?" I ask. "Because I want to" she answers. "Plus, you said you want to be the best girlfriend you can be. You wouldn't be if you don't let me" she adds. I laugh, but don't say anything back. I go back to eating my food in silence, though, I have a smile on my face. "I hope you know I'm choosing" she tells me. "Whatever you want, babe" I reply, not looking at her. After I finish my food, I turn to her.
"You done?" I ask. "Mhm" she hums. I gently grab the plate out of her hands as I stand. "I'll be back" I say, leaving. I clear the plates when I get downstairs, rinse them, then put them in the dishwasher. As I'm walking back upstairs, I hear Caroline on the phone. I didn't wanna be rude, and nosey, so I continued to walk. Though, I stopped when I heard her say "They're fine, Klaus. I promise". I quietly make my way towards her room, and listen closely. "I'll call you if anything happens to them, which most likely won't" she says.
A few seconds later, she hangs up. I was kinda frozen in place. With a sigh, she turned around, and saw me. She looked scared when she did. Like she'd just been caught doing something she shouldn't have. "Was that my dad?" I ask, but it comes out as a whisper. Though I already know the answer, I was hoping she'd lie and say that it wasn't. She stares silently for a few seconds before nodding. My head drops slowly, and I close my eyes. I feel a single tear roll down my face.
I take a shaky deep breath. I lift my head, and immediately wipe the tear off my face. "I-I'm, um...I'm gonna go for a run" I tell her, turning away. "Wait" she says, though, I don't listen. I continue to walk until I'm out of the house.
