What's so funny?

~1 month later~

No one POV (This is my first time doing this, so bare with me)

"Hope" Josie mumbles, flipping over. Hope's asleep, facing away from her. "Hm?" Hope hums, tiredly. "It's time to get up" Josie says. Hope lets out a groan, like she always does, making Josie roll her eyes. Josie loves everything about Hope, except for the fact that it takes forever to get her up in the mornings.

Josie reaches over, and flips Hope herself, so Hope's laying on her back now. "I know you heard me, Hope" Josie says, staring at her relaxed face. She can't help but admire it, and all it's features. Though, she can't see her favorite part of the masterpiece. "Hope, we don't have time for this. We're already behind" she continues.

The auburn haired girl finally opens her eyes, making Josie smile. You all may be wondering why the two are sleeping in the same bed, even after Caroline made them switch rooms. Well...

~Flash Back~ 2 weeks

No one POV

"Ok, well, you guys do whatever, and we're gonna go talk" Hope says, grabbing Josie's hand, and leading her out of the room. Now, Kaylee and Faith are left in the room, alone. They sit on Kaylee's bed, in a comfortable silence. Though, Faith breaks it after a while. "So..." she starts, turning her head to Kaylee.

"Hm?" Kaylee hums, looking at her too. "Remember you told me that Caroline isn't your biological mom?" Faith asks. Kaylee gives a nod. "Well, where's your biological mom?" she follows. Kaylee was quiet for a little while. Faith figured it was a sensitive topic, so she said "Never mind. Just, um, forget I asked".

"Our mom died" Kaylee says. Faith wanted to ask how, but she knows how much she hates telling people how her mom died, and how much she hates talking about it, so she doesn't. Instead, she says "I'm sorry for asking". "No, it's ok" Kaylee replies, giving her a small smile. The two keep quiet for a few minutes.

"You wanna know how, don't you?" Kaylee asks. "A little bit, yea, but I don't want to make you feel...bad" Faith answers. Kaylee shakes her head, then says "You won't". She takes a deep breath before she starts speaking. "Our basically has a leader" she starts. Faith sits there, staring at her, so Kaylee knows she's listening.

"To become the "leader", you have to have been born a twin, and there's this ritual called the merge, where the twins have a mental battle. The stronger of the two absorbs the other, killing them. Long story short, my mom had a twin, but they didn't merge. Instead, my uncle merged with my other uncle" she continues.

"Since my two uncles weren't twins, it made the uncle who won, sick. They thought my mom was too, but it turns out she was pregnant with Josie and I. When my uncle found it we were twins, he stabbed my mom in the stomach with the intent to kill us. Though, our coven magically moved us into Caroline" she finishes.

Faith furrows her eyebrows, then asks "Why would he want to kill you?". "So we wouldn't be able to merge, and take his spot" Kaylee answers. Faith nods, understanding now. "When do you have to merge?" she asks. "When we turn 22. But, they're looking for a way to stop it" she says. Faith nods again.

"You know...my mom died too" Faith says. "I'm not trying to make this about me, but I'm saying that I understood how you feel" she adds. Kaylee nods, then says "I guess we're alike in that way too". Kaylee gives Faith a sad smile. "When'd she die?" she asks. "When I was 1" Faith answers.

Faith turns to Kaylee, and grabs her hand gently. Kaylee looks down at their joined hands, and smiles to herself. She heard Faith speaking, but she wasn't listening. She was too focused on the way her heart was beating a mile a minute, and the feeling of butterflies in the pit of her stomach.
