a.n publishing this right now because i'm too happy :)) usually, the books i write only have readers after the story's completed but i didn't expect readers while i'm only at chapter 3 so here you go :)) don't worry, ill still update tomorrow too~ happy reading <3

jeonghan pov:

"let's bet that we'll never fall for each other. we'll try to make the other fall for ourselves, but we can't catch feelings. deal?" I asked. let's just say I was hoping this bet would get her to stop being so focused on the project we have to do, and I won't be that stressed to be on par with her work. she has a reputation of always doing group works, and individual works, really well. and I'm just, lazy.

"what do I get out of this?" she asked. what DO we get out of this- nothing, to be brutally honest. can't say that though, that wouldn't sound attractive enough.

"whoever loses the bet owes the other forever, how does that sound?" I asked. what kind of stupid bet is this?-

"sure, why not. let's do it. you'll never win," she replied confidently. stupid bet but works, somehow.

honestly, there wasn't a legit reason why I didn't want to pair with that minhee girl. she just seems like the kind who would do worse than me for the project work, there wouldn't be any good pairing with her. yoo ri is different, pairing with her, I can pull her down (maybe) and I'll attempt to be smarter than her. she seems fun too.

yoo ri pov:

"well, let's go then. we need to collect the river samples," I told him as he nodded. we took our leave from the café and made our way to the river we were going to collect the samples from.

"take this test tube and collect the water from there," I said, pointing to the other side of the river.

"can't we do it together though" he pouted. SO CUTE BUT so cringy.

"no," I replied, "just do it yourself. dude, you're literally twenty, just do it."

"correction: turning twenty in three days. it makes a difference," he corrected.

"damn, you're an october baby too. happy birthday in advance then, happy birth month," I wished.

"happy birth month to you too," he said, patting my head, "I'll go get the water samples yeah."

"okay, get them then come back here," I told him.

I also took out another test tube for myself to collect the water, and I bent down to get some water from my side too. we were to collect the sample of the water from different parts of the river and then compare its pH value and see if the location affects the purity of the waters.

as I collected, I suddenly saw a water snake in the pond coming, as I quickly turned around. jeonghan was right behind me and I quickly held onto him. my fear got the better of me as I quickly wrapped my legs around his waist, as I looked at the snake crawl. I mean, I DON'T WANT MY FEET BESIDE THAT SNAKEY THING.

as I turned back to look at jeonghan, I didn't realise that we were so close to each other. our faces were barely a ruler's length from each other, as I stared deeply into his gaze, I saw my own reflection in his eyes. this was the first time I was ever this close to someone of the opposite gender...
