Casey

Just as promised, Rowan calls the moment he walks into his apartment.

I get him to give me a mini apartment tour before he gets settled into bed.

He stays on FaceTime with me but falls asleep fairly fast. I'm sure he's wiped out from the long flight and the change in time difference.

I don't do much that day, instead I lay in bed under the covers and try to pretend he's still with me.

If Fallon saw me right now I'm sure she'd make fun of me, hell I feel like an idiot as I lay here as if we just broke up.

We didn't and I could do this. I could last these next few months until I saw him again.

The next day I get a text from Rowan telling me that Lennox dragged him out for a morning run and I even got a picture of him all sweaty with no shirt.

I was definitely saving that to my camera roll.

I told him about how I ran into one of the girls in the grocery store and she handed me a random bag of lemons.

Tracy told me she got them from her lemon tree and that she figured I could use them for lemonade, which I in fact did make and it tasted amazing.

He sends me a picture of his take out that night and I send him the lunch I made.

We talk as if we weren't states away from one another.

That night, just like the one before, Rowan and I FaceTime.

"Hey, baby." His raspy, tired voice, fills my ears and eases something deep inside me.

This three hour time difference is going to kill me because it might be ten there it was only seven here.

The sun hasn't even completely set here yet.

"You look tired." I note and he nods, "Yeah, fucking Len forced me to run with him today and then I had to do laundry and tidy up because I guess you can't just leave your apartment unattended for months and expect it to smell like it should. The sheets smelt awful Case, and I washed them before I left." He huffs making me laugh.

"Well my day wasn't half as adventurous as that." I tell him and he hums, "What time do you have to be up tomorrow?" I ask him.

"Seven, coach wants us there bright and early to start off everything." He grumbles.

I lean back on the porch swing and stare out to the sunset and Rowan and I continue to talk.

"I wish I could hold you right now." He tells me and I know how that feels. I wish he were here too.

"Soon." I tell him.

That's become our word because even though it's not happening now it will happen. I'm sure of it.

"Well, get some sleep, Ro. You better kick ass tomorrow, show all those newbies what's up." He laughs at my words.

"I was a newbie not long ago." he says but I just shrug. He's never played like one thats for sure.

"Still, have fun, and I'll see you soon."

He smiles a sleepy smile, "See you soon."

Then I am left with my thoughts.

The following day I do something more productive... I make margaritas and watch Heartstopper.

Sure I've seen both seasons more than once but another time won't hurt.

Nick and Charlie are just too cute and I need that cuteness right now.
