Chapter 37: New Life

Y/N POV

After getting back from the museum me and Kenny apologized to each other which Is good because he is like a father to me. We then helped Jane and ended up stealing meds from this poor Russian bastard. Me and Clem walk down the stairs to see Luke approaching us.

Luke: Kids! Kids, hey! Any luck with that observation deck? I was just checking on Rebecca and Kenny, and they said they hadn't heard from you in a while. I don't guess there would be much, but Jane seems pretty resourceful. God knows we could use a break.

Clem: Jane, Y/N and I were trying to open the gift shop and a stranger showed up. He had a lot of medicine, so we took some.

Luke: What?! You robbed him? Seriously? You...STOLE meds from somebody?

Y/N: The hardest choices require the strongest wills.

Clem: Rebecca needs them.

Luke: I know, but... Where is this guy now?

Clem: Jane took his gun and chased him off.

Luke: Well, I guess Jane's really rubbed off on you two. Is Jane still up there now?

Clem: Yeah. She's trying to get the gift shop opened.

Luke: You know, I can't figure her out. I mean, she really lays it on the line, but... at the same time, she doesn't show you anything that counts. And I'm never quite sure if she just doesn't like people, or just plain-out doesn't like me.

Y/N: I'm not sure we can trust her. She seems nice but she doesn't trust us.

Clem: Not like we trust each other. It seemed like she would've left Sarah.

Luke: Yeah, but we didn't. And we won't. So long as we don't have anybody marchin' us in the wrong direction.

Clem: What do you mean?

Luke: Jane seems like the kind of person who gets tempered by hardship. You know? But when I look at Kenny now, he just... he seems broken, and broken people get reckless. I know you got a history with him. Look, I think he's a good guy. At least, started as a good guy. But I just think he's had to take more than he can handle.

Clem: You're wrong. Kenny's stronger than anyone. He tries to protect us.

Luke: I don't know, Clem...I used to think that... that maybe all the horror hadn't gotten to you yet, but him and Y/N killed him and you watched. Not just kill him, but... Clem, you didn't even blink.

Clem: Carver deserved what happened to him and Kenny and Y/N we protecting us.

Luke: He was a bad man, no question about that. I'm just hoping we don't become the same.

Clem: We need to tell the others about the deck.

Luke: Yeah. Good. I will, uh... I'll see you back there.

Luke goes upstairs and Clem and me return to Parker's Run.

Rebecca: Clementine, Y/N!

Kenny: What'd you find?

Clem: The building around back has an observation deck.

Rebecca: Somewhere the baby will be safer? It's coming so much faster than I thought.

Kenny: I told you, you're getting yourself all worked up over nothing.

Clem: It's high up, so it should be safe from walkers.

Y/N: We found some meds.

Rebecca: Gimme!

I hand Rebecca some pain meds and she takes them.
